What is an *.MDS file?

Question:
I downloaded a movie which comes as a *.mdf file(630Mb) and a small *.mds file (1Kb). How can I watch the movie on my computer?Answer:
The MDF file is a CD image file, and MDS is the corresponding catalog file. Software such as 'Alcohol 120%' reads this catalog file so that it knows how to burn the MDF file. You can play the movie directly from the burned CD. Download the trial version of Alcohol 120% from their web for free:http://www.alcohol-software.com/
If you do not want to burn the image file on a CDROM (maybe you have no burner or no blank CD handy) then you can download a tool like IsoBuster or WinISO, open the image file and extract the contents to desired location on your hard disk.
You may even use the above mentioned 'Alcohol 120%' and have it create a virtual drive for you, then you can simply right-click any cd-image file you have and 'mount' it. That makes it as though it were a burned image- you can play, extract, install, whatever you want.

Yes, A Program called UltraIso is a great tool for converting all sorts of archives between file types. UltraIso can convert .iso, .bin, .mds. nero and compressed iso formats from one to the other in minutes. I think there is another called PowerIso that does about the same thing. Good Luck

You can use about any cd burner to burn this kind of file. You get this kind of file when you copy video games. But I recommend alchoal 120% to burn It. It is the best mdf file burner out there.

You can also use Imgburn(free software) and just burn the image,voila!

Nice Explanation there mate. You can also use Daemon Tools 3.47 which is a free software. Download it from the original site itself. There're other advanced versions. But they are not free.

Nero CAN burn *.MDF its very easy to do. All you have to do is act like your burning a normal *.iso file. When it asks for the image file to burn, simply chnge the file type to All Files (*.*) then you may select your whatever.mdf image, and then click OK
When you do that a box opens called the 'Foreign Image Settings' The Block size will read 2048 You must change that to 2352 and make sure that the 'Raw data' check box is checked. click ok and Burn away!! Works for me everytime. I love nero and I hate having to download converters and other programs just to get something done. I hope this helps some of you out. Use Daemon tools is your best bet. It is free and can run many disc formats such as iso and bin.
