Scammed by guy who claimed he is a Colonel in the US Army stationed in Iraq. Was to retire soon. Send some luggage before retiring with a ''friend/Diplomat'' who got stuck in Ghana. He needed money to clear his luggage at Customs. ''Friend/Diplomat'' by the name of ''Jalil'' did not have enough money for clearance. ''Jalil's phone number in Accra Ghana is 00233246907631. ''Jalil'' asked me to send 2300 US$ to ''Asante Sarpong'' at Customs in Ghana. The ''Colonel'' told me he could not access any of his money in Iraq, will I please send the money, he will pay me back.
That done, asked for more money for a ''certificate'' stating that the money in his luggage belonged to him and was not money laundering. Money for the ''Lawyer'' and ''Court'' to obtain the certificate amounted to almost 8000 US$ which I did not send. His name (real)? is Richard York. Said he was born and raised in California. Parents deceased, one adopted son named Daniel who is in California. The photo he mailed me could be stolen. I would like to know the real identity of the man in the photo if that is possible.

Picture resembles General Wesley Clark, a fellow Rhodes scholar of Bill Clinton also from Arkansas. He contested unsuccessfully in Democratic primaries. Someone please confirm or refute me. Thanks.

He is is still going by the name of Richard York and is still claiming to be a Colonel in the US Army .. now in Afghanistan. Fortuantley, i have no money, so he could not get anything out of me, but I became suspicious when he said that he had never been to SA, but his profile on Social City indicated he was from Cape Town.
His story to me was that he was married to a Hispanic woman, they had twins and she and the girl were killed in a car accident. He says his remaining child, a boy, is called William and that the live in Miami and have a house in London. I became really suspicious when i realised that he had taken himself of my IM this moring after I sent him an e-mail saying that I was concerned about certain issues. He is now using another e-mail address of rich_york1@yahoo.com.
Ladies, beware.
This is one of the contact photos he sent me. I am going to get him!! All the ladies who have been made fools of are welcome to contact me on

@Protea, it could be risky to post your email address in public domains, since spammers harvest them.
@DOC, thanks for lending me your good eyesight!

I have also been scammed by this jerk. Claimed he was a Colonel in the US Army. Based in Iraq and was in a hurry to leave sooner as his leave date could be postphoned. Needed money for the air flight to South Africa. Gave an address in Durban as security. Promised to give money back imediatley on his arrival. THEN..he got arrested on some airport in Ghana because he forgot to hand in his military firearm and it accidently landed in his luggage. Poor freak needed $9000 for bail money as his lawyer, Mr Frank Obed, assured him that they will let him go so that he can get to his funds in SA to pay the fine he will get for this offence. If he doen't pay the bail he could be sentenced for terro activities as it is against the law to carry a gun in that country. By this time a was feeling very sorry for this man who even wanted to marry me on his return to show his gratitude! Looking at the comments on this site, I realize that he has scammed many women already. How can this/these people be stopped?

This guy nearly got me, but luckily I had been warned about this type of Scam. He said his name was Richard York, born in UK in 1950 of English Mother and American Father both now deceased. Widowed in 2004 when his wife was killed in car crash leaving a son adopted in Miami, of 17 who was at an American football academy in California where he had a house, 3 luxury cars and Harley motorbike. Also had a house in London as he was working out of RAF Aconbury in Cambridgeshire since 2007. He was a Colonel in charge of Logistics in Afghanistan and had 3 weeks to go before coming out and retiring. After 5 days of emailing he suddenly said he'd got his release papers and was coming home. THEN, there is a problem with my flight, no Military flights for 3 months and had no access to money over there because of security, so could I help him to buy a flight home and he would pay me back once in UK. He even produced a fake American Passport Card with date of birth as 25.08.50, born in London. (photo enclosed)He really is a nasty piece of work!!

Why would anyone send money to someone with all the scamming going on ? And especially to a service man 'almost retired'. They have had their living expenses taken care of overseas and would have alot of money saved up from their paychecks since they would not have used most of it!

I was scammed of £30,000 by this fraudster claiming to be a colonel in the US army based in Afghanistan. I dated him online for 5 months, I am profoundly deaf as a result of meningitis at an early age and he said it did not change the way he felt about me. After 2 months he said he was retiring and wanted me to help him pay the authorities to release his luggage holding secret papers about the way the army treated the children in the Iraq war and which was held at Kotoka Airport in Ghana by the authorities he claimed and once he had the money he would meet me in London where he had a house. I sent him the money in small amounts and each time he wanted more and more. He told me he lost his wife in a car accident and had one adopted son Daniel who was at a football academy in california and he would take me there for Christmas. We arranged to meet in London and he said to go and collect my ticket at the airport which I did. When I got to the airport there was no ticket I tried to contact him about it but he was gone off messenger and the email address. I immediately went straight to the police who told me that they had to be realistic and tell me I had been scammed. I was shocked and robbed of my life's savings. That was a very cruel trick to play on me indeed. I have only my pension to live on now my life's savings has gone. His photo and email below and known as Richard Allman.

I am sorry that you are scammed, the real man on the photos is on retired US Gen Wesley Clark and his photos are stolen and abused in scams by West-African scammers mainly from Ghana ,once you send these scammers money they will never stop asking for more,i hope you have ceased all communication with the scammer (s) ,i advice you also to change your email address as scammers can come back in other shapes as lawyers, police or other authorities and pretend to be some one who can help you to get your lost money back again, which is lies of course .These scammers are scruples and has no mercy to anyone ,i have heard so many stories how manipulative they can be to people in every way.Getting your lost money i would not count so much on as these fraudsters are very good into hide them selves with fake IDs .
