As an Honorably Discharged U.S.Army Serviceman,
I can assure you, the ID is a fake and was made by ignorant scammers.
I can not elaborate at risk of improving scammer knowledge in this matter.
I applaud your effort to expose the criminals and defend the vulnerable ones.

He is still using the pictures and is now using the name SGM David James.
He is very good at what he does. And yes he can and will draw you in very fast. I am very thankful that I was smart enough to keep searching. This has all been since July 2013.
Please do not let him scam you. I am not that rusting and would not give up until I found out something about this man.
I am warning all of you this is all fake and he will take you for whatever he can should you let him.

Do your research and stay away for him.
People in the military are allowed to use the internet once a week for 30 mins only and they all are giving an email address in which family can contact them. it will be name.mil.gov.

They are also not allowed to have cell phones or their own computers due to security reason. He is claiming to be a Sargent Major which is an E9 pay grade, meaning that his monthly pays is around $7000.00 a month and military has access to their funds at anytime and any where so he does not need you money.
He is now saying that is wife a daughter were killed in a car wreck aprox 8 years ago and that hie home is in Florida and that he is due to retire any day now. Stay away!!!!

Thank you ,yes military staff do not use yahoo as domain name for example, just mil.gov when you are aware of this it is very easy to discover the scam.Scammers uses several tricks to their victims to make them believe it is a real person they are communicating with .Some advices :
1/Check the domain name in the email address.
2/real soldiers do not ask money ,the military provides them with all necessary things
3/Be aware of common spelling, grammatical or language errors in the e-mails.

1. I am am American solider.
No they are not. They are never American soldiers. Real American soldiers do not behave this way.

2. I am in Iraq.
No they aren't. You're dealing with a scammer criminal and Iraq is probably the last place he is located. He is more likely to be close to if not exactly in Nigeria. They almost always are.

3. I found some money in Iraq.
Cool. Even if they did, you can't keep this kind of thing secret in the military. Everyone will know and everyone will talk. You cannot hide money.

4. This is completely legal.
So is being arrested and imprisoned at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, which is the main U.S. military prison. Every single member of the military knows that if they tried something like moving stolen money around like this they would end up here, for many, many years. This is explained to them on day 1 in the military

5. '...I am in the Engineering Unit of US Military here in [name of place]....
No they aren't. The unit they mention may or may not be currently deployed in Iraq. In any case you got an email from a scammer.

I met this same man on August 4th 2013 on a website called mate1 and talked to him through e-mail and text he said he was station in Baghdad and was retiring from the army yes real sweet talker and sends fake photos of this nice looking Sargent where he got all these photos I don't know I just feel for the military man he stole them from. After talking with this scammer who is really from Acura Guiana a couple of weeks he asked me for 500.00 to get papers in order to go through customs with this gold he bought and sent me pictures of gold bars in my e-mail and said it was worth over a million dollars and that he was doing for us. I told I didn't have that kind of money. Then he asked for my credit card information and said he could transfer funds from his account back in the states. I never gave him the information and he got angry and said some very mean things to me which upset me. All I can hope for now that he gets caught and spends time behind bars for messing with other peoples lives stealing some poor soldiers identity sweet talking vulnerable women and stealing there money and hurting them emotionally. I hope he rots in hell.

Anonymous friend U.S.A.,

I am happy to voice my enthusiasm and compliment you on your ability to recognize this scam
for what it actually is! Most of the photos stolen from soldiers are taken from their personal
face book sites. Before face book was even popular I saw that the wolves would do their stalking
near to where the lambs were gathered. I've since avoided it!
As for Mate1. Unless you just want to mess with scammers, avoid it most. It is dominated by scammers and I am not reluctant to say that 99% of the accounts there are scammers. I have traced information which points to the fact that it has been bought-out by a scam lord for use by his cronies. The site even pays local people to send fake emails, to keep clients interested in staying on. The uniforms these men wear signifies a U.S.Army unit which I myself was assigned permanent
active duty for more than one tour. Our military has been very patient with the scammers.

For anyone who is unsure of the military scam, please check these links.

This guy contacted me on friend Scout and introduced himself as James Rockson. Same Story, Comes from New York state, has a 15 years old son and a sister, who is not in contact with him any more. He pretended to be an US soldier, being in Afghanistan now and wants to retire and relocate in Germany. Looking for a Soul mate. I was in contact with him for 4 weeks now until he asked me to organise his baggage to be sent to my address in Germany. Shortly before he was supposed to come here, he hurt his foot and one day later he got a bullet into his upper arm, when taliban attacked the camp. Sent me photos of his foot and arm. When I wrote to the agency which should deliver the bags, they wanted to send me a bill of 830 Euro. Since I have told him that I am not willing to pay he didn´t write anymore. But ladies be aware, this is a very charming scammer, as said before. I also got another photo of him, which I post here.

Just an update of what is posted on this site. Sweet talking Alex James is still add it, one would think after all these years he (they) would have changed their moniker. I've attached the photo that he sent me. Says he is in Kabul, uses Yahoo Messenger, reports that he does not have access to SKYPE or telephone on base. Will be retiring in 2 months, returning to the US. Has a 14 year old son in boarding school, divorced from a cheating wife. Watch out, he has gotten much better, and is a very smooth talker. I very familiar with American culture.

Wow!!!! I got an IM from a David Krol on Match, no profile though. I checked up on him and arrived here. I noticed there are two different name tags on his uniform in these pictures posted. Either it was photo shopped or this Dude really is the scammer. Has anyone seen him in person?
Also what information is there to the FBI. Give the FBI what they need to shut this down pronto!
