Seen on Match.com. Hometown was listed as Boston. Stated is Civil Engineer working as global contractor on the Pearl Rig off Nigeria. (The Pearl rig is not off the shore of Nigeria and it's a rig for Shell Oil Co. in a joint effort w/another country). Said wife was fashion designer who died of cancer 3 years ago & 11 year old daughter lives w/his mom in UK now. Project will finish in two weeks - beginning of Nov. 2011. Said he lived/went to h.s. in South Africa and got Bachelors Degree from Keele University in UK (they don't have a Civil Engineering degree program). Also uses Yahoo IM as tenar_john.

Spoke of the 9 rascals and named them all; Nelson married Debby and had met her on the internet, where he was inspired. He copied/pasted the same exact email to me on 10/10 and 10/19 and got 'upset' when brought to his attention.

Profile on Match was hidden right after initial contact...which he stated was b/c he traveled back to Nigeria to complete project on the rig; stated will be his last one 'from the field'. States daughter's name is Elizabeth. States his mother was German woman from Florida and father was UK diplomat to South Africa. States Father deceased.

Very poetic writer, with writing as would be expected of someone w/an accent. Spells things in British style, using an 's' instead of a 'z'.

Cell phone is from Nigeria: +2348083230376
IP addresses have switched according to his story however, from the West coast of the U.S. to Nigeria. IP will be San Francisco, Redmond, CA area and Seattle area where Microsoft is. No IP was ever from Boston where he reported to be at the initial contact. Then as went with his story, the IP did move to Nigeria. There was no difference in his writing except for sending the same damn email twice, many days apart.

No proposition for $$$ yet, but waiting to see...was waiting for some big tragedy, but none so far...but who knows...the job isn't to be done yet until beginning of November. He's aware of my healthy suspicion from the beginning, so presents more of a challenge, I suppose. I don't think he can find a way to ask, actually, without sounding corny - besides, he eludes in his emails to wealth of his own...it's subtle, but there if you read carefully - so how someone whom owns their own company and calls their own shots will need money, will be an amazing work of fiction alright. Some posts are a verbatim copy as listed here to others ass well...

Well, well. I happen to be corresponding with 'John Tenar' as we speak. Everything is exactly as you stated, INCLUDING sending the same email twice. However, I now have the first 'tragedy.' There has been an 'accident' on the oil rig and one of his crew was killed. John is now soliciting money to 'help the family of the deceased.'

Yup, he's an eloquent writer. I told him he could be a romance novelist as a second career. You have confirmed what I already suspected. Thanks.

Thanks for your posting !
The scammer will ask for money soon i am very sure on that as there are no scammers that do not do that in the end..
when scammers will ask for money the mails gets intense and they can start calling often to make sure the victim will send money(The grooming on the victim)

Hi, I am from Sweden and I have also come across this caracter John Tenant, only he calls himself John Robinson now. Says he was educated in Edinburgh, UK, deceased wife and 10-year old son in UK care. Romantic e-mails, working on the Pearl Rig, Nigeria right now (this is how I found this site). Has not asked for money yet.
I will report him to the match-site where he found me today.
I recognise him in the first three pictures above, but he wears a beard now.
Uses e-mailadress: adventrousloverj@yahoo.com
Has also created a homepage for himself and his 'company': www.johngeologistmining.com
Thank you for setting up this page, it is very helpful!

Hi there, i have just started corresponding with this guy, his name is james thomas from the UK and working on oil projects in nigeria, son staying with mother in UK . He says he is on his last project and then returning to seattle where he is based to work from home office. Also quite the charming writer, but i sense he is losing his touch. It only took 2 days and i figured him out! Also states his wife died of cancer 3 years ago. What a loser

Hi! I also happened to haven contact with him by dating Badoo. After 10 days of contact by email John Robinson explained the accident happened at his job in Nigeria. Lord, we know evrything that Sharon died from him and his son lives in England. He sent a picture of his contract whit Nigerian oilcompany but I took him as faker. Bluff makers who want to impress singel women and he want to win their friendship. He can be quite intimidating so you can try avoid him. He is reported to Badoo. Thank your for being there! Bye!
