First of all, I want to thank you all for this website! I was ALMOST taken to the cleaners by this guy. If it hadn't been for this site, who knows what would have happened!

I was on a dating site called OurTime.com. It's a dating site for people over 50 years old. I was contacted by 'Joseph' about a week ago. He said he was widowed, and from California. In no time, we were chatting on Yahoo Messenger. He came on VERY STRONG, VERY SOON. He told me how beautiful I was, blah blah blah - you know, all of the standard bullshit. He said he was from South Africa, and when we began corresponding on Messenger he told me he was in South Africa, in negotiations to sell his company, MAXIUM-ME. He told me he owned it, and even gave me his website link. I searched for it and found it, and it looked legitimate! How was I to know it was bogus!

He told me he was planning on relocating to Prescott (where I live) at the end of August and that he was going to buy a house and retire. He was very forthcoming with his phone number (a South African number) and even went so far as to give me the address of his home in California (which later when I looked up the property tax information I found out he wasn't the owner on record.) We spoke on the phone or IM'd each other every day, several times a day. He started telling me how much he loved me from almost the very start. Red Flag! He then told me that he would appreciate it if I would look for a house in Prescott for 'US', and that he would send me a 'certified cashier's check' for $2 million dollars, which was what he said his 'budget' was.

I'm a smart cookie, and I pride myself on having a good sense of intuition. But I have to admit ladies, HE HAD ME GOING FOR AWHILE! He even sent me roses, a teddy bear, and Harry London chocolates! C'mon, ladies... Who among us is not a sucker for a teddy bear holding a vase of roses????? LOLOL...

I'm still not sure how he was going to scam me, but when I googled the name of his company, MAXIM-ME, buried in about the third page of Google was a link to this website that matched on the company name. So I found out, in time, before any damage was done!

Of course, as soon as I confronted him with the information I had obtained, he 'disappeared'... Won't answer my emails, texts, or IM's... Go figure!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

His name: Joseph Rotimi
His email address: dretech2012@yahoo.com
His company name: MAXIM-ME CORPORATION
His screen name on the Our Time Dating Site: SWEETJOSEPH
His address in California (yeah, right!): 337 Belvedere Ave. Belvedere Tiburon Ca 94920

Watch out for this guy, ladies... He's OH SO SMOOTH!

This is his profile picture on the dating site OurTime...

Even though the Maxim-Me Corporation website looks very real, it is a fake. Here, Google is our friend, as Ms. Smarterthanhim found out, If you dial the numbers listed on the website you will see that they are fake. The site also has property addresses. They say they are located in Texas and Florida

But you can search property tax records or Zillow.com and see the addresses are not associated with Maxim-Me. Even just using google maps will show these are residential places and not an office. The phone numbers are also fake.

One phone number associated with maxim-me has 282 complaints on Numbercop as phishing calls or frauds

The following people names have been associated with Maxim-Me corporation. If you are contacted by any of them it could lead to a scam:

Scott Castle
Micheal Grosso
Scott Bernard
Daniel Mancini
David Bruno

Anonymous from United States, posted 7-7-2012. I was very upset and I guess disappointed that this man has wasted a good couple of weeks of my life and has taken away my initial hope of meeting someone special. However I have moved on.

But I am so curious as to this Scott Bernard, he must have been or is still contacting us at the same time!! LOL. I would like to know if you called him on his scam? Or if you are still chatting and avoiding confronting him? If you haven't we should come up with a plan to shock him.

For anyone out there who is looking for information here is what I can pass on to you and hope it helps. He goes by the name Scott Bernard. He is the CEO of Maxim-mecorporation. He was on match and just like the above comment posted, he pulled his profile the day he met me. He was very good. He copied and pasted his whole profile to me in an email. His yahoo account is scottheartofluv. His match profile is familyman2luv. He also has a LinkedIn profile. He initially looked very reputable. His email, his company, and he was never pushy or overly mushy, never told me he loved me etc... He gave me a phone number to call 011447024034476. I never called him but he warned me that he has a slight accent. He said he was a Danish from Belgium. As for family said father passed away, mother still living. Divorced and has 2 children a girl named Katherine who is 12 and a boy named Klevin who is 9.

So everything looked on the up and up, and of course here we go. Yesterday he told me his children are with their grandmother (his mother) in Poland. Said he hasn't seen or spoken to ex wife in three years. She is a supposed drug user and slept with his best friend. He said he was very very upset and going crazy because his daughter has become very very ill! He is on a ship with the oil surverying company (maxim-mecoporation) and western union will not take his credit card and since he is out to sea he can't do anything. Ship to shore isn't until Sunday (this was Wed). Asked me to wire money to his mother in Poland. Said he would give me his credit card and I could go out and buy anything I wanted of the same value of money I would be sending. Said he would give me his SSN, his passport, anything. Of course I have not nor will I send him money. I wish with all my heart I could help those of you who have!!!! He is actually still waiting for my response/help. I am holding off, because I would love to find a way to get back at him for what he has done to others. But I am a good hearted and loving person. I believe that he will get what he has coming to him someday. I believe in Karma. Those of you who have been scammed, please know that you have helped others by posting your stories. And please listen to your gut and heart!! If it doesn't seem or feel right, don't do it!

I am posting some picutes of what he has sent to me. I like most of you don't believe it is him. I believe these pictures were stolen from someone. I am espcially angry about the children photos. I wonder if I should post them, but I am hoping that someday someone will see them and can protect their children. I feel sorry for the gentleman that this jerk or should say jerks stole the pictures from. If I ever get the chance to I would love to introduce myself and tell him how sorry I am that this has happened.

San Diego,

Got some emails from Jones Bauers, and googled his pic and it lead me to a guy named John Buchanon. Mr. Bauer's emails were directly quoted from other dating scammers. It just seems that there is a lot of scammers out there. It is best to stay away from online dating and just meet people the old fashioned way, in person.

Key words, Jones Bauers Corcoran, John Buchanon.

Beware.
