How to find foreclosure homes

Question: I'm looking for listings of foreclosures and found www.realtytrac.com that offers listings for a fee. They seem to have a lot of listings for bank owned, forclosures etc. so many of the listings they have seem too good to be true. Can you recommend that service?Answer: NOTE:Some of the prices on realtytrac.com - the ones that seem to be to good to be true - in fact are so low because they will be bid up. HUD homes typically have a low price to draw interest. A known problem of Realtytrac is that their preforeclosure listings frequently are old and the REOs can be found free on the HUD site anyway. Another good source is this free site: 'Search Bank Owned Homes for FREE' They force you to create an account and I wonder how free the service is once you found something you'd like to bid on. Plus they seem to be partners or affiliated with www.Realtytrac.com, which makes me suspicious. The goverment's HUD site is guaranteed to be free and located at:
