My friends,

I have come close to being scammed myself but I was lucky that I was as cautious as I was. Before going into your pockets to send one thin dime, check everything THOROUGHLY. For one thing, look at the tickets REAL closely. If you have Photoshop, use it to detect any weird things in the text by zooming in. Also, while you're zoomed in... check out the flight numbers and try matching them with the records of the issuing airline.

My advice to you is NEVER keep your guard down! If you are THAT head over heels in love, guide her to the immigration website of your country, have her fill in and send the application & of course, you send the fees (NOT in her name but payable to the TREASURY of the country receiving the application).

When it comes time for the ticket, you arrange for it from where you are & try to talk with the agency about arranging NO refunds by anybody without your written authority. Of course, you keep that tidbit quiet & should any refunds be given... they will go to YOU & not her!

Thanks, [hidden] 2008-07-29, 14:30:18,
You might have seen my suggestions along similar lines in several threads

After deciding you are dealing with a real girl, arrange an initial meeting in a country she and you can easily visit.

1) Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Botswana, India, Malaysia, Indonesia (and a few more countries) do not require visa for Russians (and some other FSU citizens)

2) They get VOA (Visa on Arrival) at the port of entry

3) With your CREDIT CARD ONLY, buy her an e-ticket but DO NOT SEND MONEY for plane fare, http://lonelyrussia..212095480

4) Take pictures with her in front of your and her embassies for enclosing when you sponsor her to your country

In the event of gold digger, customs restrictions will limit your loss.

This is taken from a official Russian ID, like a passport, birthcertificat. This system is used over the countries in the hole russian folkgroup (like Ukraina, Georgia, Moldova and Bellarussia)

Her official name is this long one, but Viktoronova is not used in other places then in officially papers like passports. It ony tells that it is a Viktor Petrov that have made her years ago (is her father).

She will never use Viktorovna in her daily life, and allmost all friends that do not know her father will not know this name. This second name makes it easyer to find her or her relatives between others, since Elena and Petrova is both quite commond names.

Mostly all russian famillynames is different in the ending to tell the sex. So a woman have names like Petrova, Frolova, and Kovaljova while their male relatives is named Petrov, Frolov and Kovaljov. This is the most commond type of names in the central and the west of old USSR. Here is green or blue eyes most commond.

We have also this southern names like is more used by southern russians like Ukrainian, and russians in Balkan Here is the ending a O for a woman, and OV for a man Examples is Rözenko Miscenko for the woman - and Rözenkov, Miscenkov for the man. Most brown eyed will have this name.

The people was in USSR somewhat mooving cross over the state, and mooving is just as commond as in USA today, So the names and eyecoloure is somewhat mixed today. But just like in USA, if you shall meet a Lundstrom is he related to Sweden, and you do not expect to meet a black or a latino, even if it can happens.

Tere, Estonia,
Thanks for the good article on name recognition.

To your observation on the suffix -ovna = daughter of, I might add -vich = son of. E.g. Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin.

There are several variants on these
1) replace v with w
2) add a t -vitch
3) add s in the w variant witsch

Hi , I have been conned by a Russian girl who gave me her address in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation. we had been communicating for the last four months and then she asked for a loan to help her come over to England, she asked for £390.

I thought everything was right, I had what I thought was her full name , address , age , dob , mum & dads names and sisters names and ages. also the place she works the name of the hospital where her dad works .

Her address checks out , the shop she supposed to work in , no trace , her name no trace.

She says her name is LERA CHYORNIY , I can not find out how to put a trace on this name .

Any way I have been conned
