Anon,The premise to baiting {playing along} is to waste the scammers time! This is one of many sites for reporting this crap,if you google 'scammer's,women scammers,Russian scammer's' etc you'll find all types of links to them! Other reasons it's done is to gather info and post it to expose them.By posting the names and e-mail addy's they use among other thing's all of it is picked up by crawlers and becomes available for people that do a search. Have you ever been scammed?By what you wrote even if you were I don't think you'd admit it! I and many other's here HAVE and that is why we are here,to help other's NOT to be victimized! Not to be nasty BUT,if you really don't know what you're talking about then don't! Learn more about it first! And it is not only a Russian thing,it comes from many other Eastern European{former soviet union or FSU} and W.African countries too! It is also a growing problem from the Phillipines and China as well! You ARE right about one thing...It IS a BIG business, worldwide it takes in BILLIONS of USD each year! And if you paid any attention to were some of the posting's here are from you saw that it hurt's more than just American's!!!

well said anon US!...although I still believe that the majority of FSU scam syndicates are centered around the scam triangle, Ioshktar Ola, Kazan, Cheboksary, with affiliates in Moscow. It's almost a way of life in Mari El. The Ukraine has its fair share too around Lugansk. Otherwise I think it's mostly freelancers dotted around. As for filppino scammers, I came across a lot of them on Romantic Planet so you're spot on there. West Africa is old news.

I think you could also have mentioned that despite the high level of scammers on certain sites, who also typically contact the vic first, a sure scam sign, there are lots of real women out there too looking for partners. I've met a few myself, in fact I'm engaged to a 'real' Russian girl I met on the internet, who I've also met in real time as well, of course. It's easy to get the impression on an anti-scam site that the whole digital dating world is a gigantic fraud, but it's not. The %-age of scammers is quite small, just that they're incredibly prolific. Once you know the signs, it's easy to spot them. I've never been scammed but it was close, just luck that I knew the visa regulations and finally copped that she was a scammer. There were other signs too, but I'd missed them.

anyway guys, if ure seriously looking for an FSU girl, there are lots of them out there, and some of them are very cute (don't quite look like supermodels though)

Hallo Eddie, I want to apologize myself for that antidate-affair. That was my fault. Do not worry about. You treated her like a scammer, I was treated like a western sex-monster by them. Btw, he is a she and not gay, as you might have found out by yourself already. Peter
As always: Good, informative posting above, I share your views.

no need to apologise Germany. how was it your fault? Yes indeed, I figured out she wasn't gay, and that she's not a scammer either ;) I was probably a bit harsh with her as well, even if she implied that I was a sex tourist too, but after the last time a scammer joined the thread I prefer not to take any chances. I know the russian scam mentality and the type of language they understand. With normal people such as yourself, I use normal language :D

Tschüß

'E',I was just doing a generalization, not going into too many detail's because I didn't think the would understand it all.I'm quite sure most of in the FSU comes from the 'triangle'as you call it besides Lugansk and Odessa for Ukraine.I mentioned WA because it seemed to me he is not aware of any of it.There is so much conflicting info out there as to just who is behind the scam's it's hard to determine what's true and what's supposition. Many seem to beleive it's the 'Russian Mafia',I don't! It may make money BUT not to the scale they do/want.Besides the time involved to do it and the probabilites of failure.I know the mob here wouldn't be bothered with it,it's not alway's a sure thing and the profit margin isn't all that great compared to what they can make with other thing's.Still,it's much more complicated than people think.I was amazed when I first found out about it and keep learning more everyday! Acually the whole internet dating thing is not as easy as people are led to beleive.Seem's real women are the same on-line or off, they prefer the men to make the first move.

that's pretty much right US...but in Sweden, you can write a nice mail to 20 different girls and get a reply from just one if you're lucky (even if you're good looking like me :) Seriously though, the Russian dating thing seems to have worked for me, and I get on quite well with Russian girls even in my home city. Swedish girls think i talk too much LOL But you need to find a girl who can speak some English of course. I'm not from Sweden originally myself so I don't care where people come from just as long as I'm on the same wavelength as them.

About scamming, what you wrote was quite accurate, though I still think it's run by organized gangs in Russia. and the profit margins are still quite high there when u think about it. My girl is a financial manager for a small trading company but only earns about 300 bucks a month net, not a hell of lot. She earned more in Yekaterinburg working in a bank, about 1000 Euros a month, which was a good salary. so think about it, if some vic sends 500 bucks for a visa, there's some money to be made. Plus with the spamming programs around nowadays, you can cover a lot of ground. The scammer who wrote to me claimed he earned 5000 bucks a month, using a good set of pics, form letters, et al. and even allowing for exaggerration, that's a pretty good living. but a what a way to make the dosh.

anon UK!...yet another bullshit letter, but muslim scammers? that's a new angle.

anon germany...yes, she did seem rather feisty. but then again, I can take care of myself (even in Russian ;)

PS...anon UK...what your 'muslim' scammer has written is so much bullshit. She can't get a visa without a personal sponsor's letter from you, plus you have to fill a sponsor's application form and send a copy of your passport etc. In addition, she needs to have paid for her tickets before any European embassy will grant her a visa. All of the above she needs to submit to the embassy with her visa application form.

So ask her if she has any prepaid tickets, ask to her to scan them so you can see them and the receipt, ask what flights she's booked on, etcetc. Bet she can't give you an answer. Id she says that the travel agemt can fix her a visa anyway, that's a lie. Anyway, there are only a few countries that Russian girls can travel without getting a visa, one of them is Turkey, and then she would still have to buy her tickets first.

you can offer to sponsor her visit or visit her in her own country (the first is a bit risky). if she declines then of course she's a scammer.

Hi to other potential scam-ees. I am receiving emails for a couple of weeks from Anna, from Kirovsk Russia, a single female 'doctor' who is about to come to the US on physician exchange program. Hasnt asked for money yet, but her uncle and friends are so happy she has found someone after all those torturous years in med school. Yeah, right. Here's a pic if any of you know this to be someone else. I have two, and will post the second under this note. These scammers are so bright, they ought to become US politicians.

Heres another pic of Anna the doctor from Kirovsk. Boy, oh boy. What a photo doctoring accomplishment this is. All one half of it lacks is an Aeroflot jet flying over in the background. I could do a better job on a photo with a pair of second grade scissors and some duct tape. Yes, doctor Anna and her 'mum' You betcha......
