OJAS, nice try.

Peter: Vishnu?

Eddie: That's why that thought about the former satellite countries crossed my mind. The red (city?) flag is not in the list of flags I found. But, is that list complete? Some use the colour, but in combination with others. Thanks for searching. It would be nice (and simple) if that building is in Yaransk (Kirov).

My grandgrandma could talk dutch fluently. It's our local dialect here but almost forgotten nowadays. I have meant it in its sense 'fare well' = 'have a good time'. Wasn't quite a good choice if you did not get it. Due to Vishnu my jumps probably are to wide.

To Eddie and Dirk: Sure I looked for that building too and as always I used kyrillic queries for the google pic-search. Some thousand pics I have done and only figured out that it might be a university as well. Anybody tried google earth for the volga region?

Dirk, Vishnu is a kind of patron for dutch coffee-shops, an indian god that brought ganja to the people. Correct me, OJAS, if I am wrong.

1) Belarus supposedly considers itself more Stalinistic - The search may be small since very few cities there would have that huge building

2) You're partially right Peter about Vishnu - the protecror deity ( Brahma the creator, Shiva the destroyer - and from his hair-lock the Ganges begins as the legend goes. To this date no-one has found its origin precisely geographically!)

3) You are not the first German to get me confused with Dutch. I thought initially Beethoven sounds like Beet Garden in Dutch

4) My computer was loading each pic in the Tambov link I sent very slowly, but after Eddie's post it'll be a new direction

5) What do you guys think of the flag and emblem?

Nice flag, but not the one that flies proudly on our building.

Peter: Ooooh, that Vishnu. Now you see how little I know about Dutch coffeeshops. But I'm learning a lot about Russian flags. Does that count too?

My emblem magnification needs to be viewed about 3 degrees counter-clockwise. What do you think with this minor error during my Microsoft picure manager attempt?

And can flag be the party flag of the last one, flying on its campaign headquarters?

Just a hint for those still searching. It's not the trainstation in Minsk. And it isn't the city-flag of Yaransk:

Minsk city executive committee. Its strict building was constructed in 1963.

I thought when some are focussing on flag, why not me on the emblem? Not that I knew ahead of time on any possible leads. If all you guys agree, the focus now narrows to Minsk.

Btw I still have to properly document my picture search althogh the tool works well for me since I wrote that in response to Krasnoyarsk girl pic Skeet was trying to help SM with.

As always glad to be of help.

PS The building is south facing; I live in the northern hemisphere; The ascending sun casts my shadow to my right when I face south; The ratio of an object height to its shadow length determines the time of the day; Determining these in pixel numbers will require a powerful PC; Even if I start crude calculation venture my e-mail will be barraged pointing all mistakes I could make during calculations; I refrain taking any step in that direction.

PPS Vertically - 5 floors; Horizontally - 14 vertical supports per side + one end wall
