She claims to live with a grandmother who is supposedly concerned about her well-being. Yuliya is pretty convincing and acts pretty reserved, compared to some scammers.

Sorry for not leaving the info sooner...

She sent me an email telling me we meet on a dating site, although I don't remember talking to her before. I went back to the sites I was on and couldn't find her profile or any messages from her, although it may be possible.
She never told me her last name, but the letter from the grandmother said 'Elene Sergeevna'
She said she lives in Cheboksary. approximately in 600 kilometers from Moscow.
Her email is
She told me she was 25??
Been talking for 2 months, although money was never discussed. She was fed up with Russian men cause they 'abuse alcohol' and treat their women poorly. She lives with a guy for awhile but he was a drunk and cheated on her. Parents were killed in car wreck in 2002. Any of this sound familiar? I'd really like to talk to someone who's dealt with her before. I want to ask how and when they got scammed. She is extremely convincing. Like I said, she never asked for money, yet, but we did talk about making plans to get together. I will share her emails upon request. If there are any questions or any other info you need, please let me know. This girl had me convinced, until I stumbled upon this site. Thanks.

Yep! It ALL sound's familiar Steve.One thing,It's not the best idea to post your e-mail addy like that,you may start to get alot of SPAM.If you have a good pic of the face post it.{labeled}

For future reference the following is the important info to post first;

A photo {preferably labeled with the name and e-mail address.To avoid confusion}
Name {with surname if possible}

E-mail address {IMPORTANT}

Location {country,city,street}

Phone number {if given}

The first and money request letter,with full header.With that the IP can be seen and if an X-mailer {ie;THEBAT- For Russian scammers}is used.

The dating site the scammer contacted you on.

With that available people doing a google search will get answer's.
When posting 'her'/his photo, include in your message itself, any body-piercings, tattoos, moles, dimples, whatever strikes you.

Yes Steve, all sounds very familiar. There some dangerous scammers with patience and convincing letters. Only proofs for the scam are the pics themselves. This girl is never 20 something. I doubt if it would be legal in your country to contact her in any way. As a teacher I tell you theses girls are schoolgirls. (No problem, you are not the first who did that mistake. Happend to me too.)

Yuliya Nikolaevskaya contacted me on Aug 16th saying she saw my profile on We have emailed each other everyday since. She sent me every picture that has already been posted. The picture she had on her profile from Singlesnet looks different than the ones she sent. She uses the email addy ( She wrote me about her last boyfriend cheating on her, being single for over a year, that her boyfriend was abusing alcohol and that they lived together for 3 months. She also said that she was fed up with Russian men. I got a letter from her Grandmother, Ms Elene Sereevna, who told me her parents died in a car crash autumn 2002. She says she plays volleyball and works at a Homeless shelter as a social worker and she has been there 2 years. She also says she doesn't have a phone and that she writes from an internet cafe. She plays for the volleyball team 'Rubin' and has been on it for 4 years. She says she lives in Cheboksary, in the Chuvash Republic, her favorite actor is Mel Gibson, her favorite car is BMW and Ford, but she doesn't have a drivers license, and she's partial to classical music. Her favorite book is Mikhail Bulgakov's 'The Master and Margarita'. She also likes to dance the 'Waltz'. She mentioned several times about being careful of the deciet on the internet. She told me yesterday that for her to come visit me, it would cost $1350.00 US. She said that travel agency could get her a Passport, tourist Visa and all the other paperwork to her in 2 weeks. That's when I did some checking. It takes at least a month to get a tourist visa to the U.S.( sometimes longer), plus you have to interview with the American Consule to even have your application reviewed. That also takes time because you need to set an appointment with them. She is very smooth and comes across as being an emotionally hurt, yet very naive girl just looking for love. She also mentioned her english was that of the school system there so she has to use an interpreter program which is why she writes pidgeon english. She also said she has no kids, no brothers or sisters, and she lives alone with her grandmother, yet in one of the pictures with the bunkbed, you can see the handle to a childrens plastic wagon, and she likes changing the items on that ugly dresser in the room with the bunkbeds in every other picture. The picture I recieved of her friend 'Olga' and her was at a bar? that had the English words Night Li- on the wall in English in the background. Oh yeah, on her singlesnet profile she listed her residence as Agness, Oregon and that she went to school in Ohio.

Ergo Oregoneans require a passport, tourist visa , $1350 to visit your city. When she finished school in Ohio, wonder what all Oregon required from her. LMAO!

It's the usual bullshit!! It's virtually impossible for your single childless Russian 'girl' to get a tourist visa to the US. INS wouldn't trust her not to overstay. She can get a sponsored visa if you sponsor her, but then she would need a lot of documents from you first.

The girl 'Yuliya Nikolaevskaya' in your pic is cute though!

For future reference, here are a few Russian dating scam signs. If several or more of these fit your Boris (because 'she' is surely a guy), DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SENDING MONEY!! You can offer to visit her in Russia (which is the conventional way to meet a real Russian girl), chat with a webcam or on the phone first. See what she she finds an excuse.

# 'girl' writes to you first on a dating site...especially a free one (or an email appears out of nowhere in your mailbox). Real Russian girls are rarely so bold as to write to you first. (unless you're obviously very attractive or rich :). Plus if they're looking for a partner, they generally prefer him to be Russian speaking and live in Russia. Much more convenient!
# girl's much too young for you (or too good to be true/looks like a model/porno star)....although I have noticed a recent tendency for some scammers to use photos of slightly 'less attractive' girls.
# girl has some far-fetched excuses for you not visiting her in Russia (criminal city, not the Russian custom, etc). Actually, the normal way to meet a Russian girl is to visit her in her city first!
# scammers rarely have children, but all the real Russian women I've ever met on the internet did.
# photos are too revealing (can't be a respectable girl). Respectability is very important in Russia.
# most of the pics are old and a little bit faded with a curiously grainy quality that soon becomes easy to recognise (overuse?). A serious girl who's looking for a partner, would save up and go to a professional to have a photo set done, and/or borrow a digicam at least (dates should also be on the photos you receive). Russian girls aren't all that poor anymore.
# girl claims not to have a mobile phone. Very unlikely!!! fer f***'s you know a single girl without a mobile phone? Even poor Russian girls can't do without one, they're much cheaper than in Europe and a megafon telephone card doesn't cost that much either. You should be able to call her. On the other hand, not having a landline or a computer is quite common.
# very long rambling/ecstatic form letters with a strange format, punctation and layout written in scamlish. (world's worst Babelfish copy)
# writes everyday in English (how does she have time if she's working? + most Russians can hardly speak a word of English). Anyway, what's the point of finding a girl if you can't communicate with her, at least on a basic level?
# doesn't answer direct questions (sometimes factual mistakes in the letter)
# falls in 'love' very quickly. Don't let your ego or loneliness pull the wool over your eyes. You could be an axe murderer for all she knows.
# uses a proxy server to hide his/her location, ie a SOCKS server / GPRS Internet. if you can't trace 'her' IP, it's 100% scam. If she uses gmail, be suspicious too cos you won't be able to trace the IP. Hotmail and yahoo are acceptable if she'll chat with you on messenger, otherwise why does she have a non-cyrillic email account?

MOST IMPORTANT...if you get this far:
# wants money for a 'visa' and/or maybe tickets, but I repeat ...IT'S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SINGLE RUSSIAN GIRL TO GET A TOURIST VISA TO A WESTERN COUNTRY! She can get a sponsored visa with your help, but then she needs a personal letter of invitation from you, a copy of your passport, a proof of your residence in your home country, a completed sponsor's application form (also from you)....not including the documents that she has to fill in herself. All of these she has to drop off at your national embassy in Moscow WITH PREPAID TICKETS and wait 10 working days. Those are the rules for Europe anyway, and I can't imagine they'd be any less complicated for USA and Canada. Anyway, a normal tourist visa + travel costs + hotel rooms would set her back 2000+ US dollars for a trip to North America from Cheboksary. She should be asking you for a lot of money! Why should it be so easy for a gorgeous sexy girl just to jump on a plane and fall into your bed? can check the US embassy website in Moscow for visa prices and procedures if you don't believe me

There are a few scammers that are more patient and professional. There are even a few real girls scamming, and professional gold-diggers. One or two (mostly in the Ukraine) are not even afraid to use their true identities. These scammers are harder to spot.

But a ground rule is: if you are looking for a Russian wife/partner, you must be prepared to travel to Russia to meet her. And if she turns out to be a professional gold-digger, which has never happened to me personally or anyone I know, you should try ot be philosophical and treat it as an exotic trip to a foreign country, have fun anyway, and try not to waste too much money on her.

....never heard of her. Sounds suspiciously like a Nigerian scammer though. Why would she be called 'Kelly Curtis' and not 'Kelly Rastapopoulos' if her dad is Greek? Bet she tells you in the next mail that she's stuck in Liberia or Ghana or somewhere. But without meaning to insult my American friends, the average American's English grammar/spelling is not always 100% (even taking into account regional variations :))) my case I was commenting on the post with the really cute pic, about 7 posts up, not Ms Piggy :)))

Just got these emails from 'Kelly Curtis', email is Does any of this ring a bell with anyone?
I am very glad to hear from you.I am feeling reluctant to talk about myself and my situation to you because i don't know how you will feel. But I will like to let you know all about me and the situation I am into now so that it will not be too late before I let you know. I have had alot of bad experiences in my previous relationships, and i do not want to fall into the same problem anymore, i will like you to give me your words that you will really like me and that you will take care of me, because i have been gamed before and i will not want to be gamed or played on again in my life. I am telling you all this, then you can decide if you still want to meet me or not, so that we will not waste each other's time, when you get this mail,kindly give me a response to let me know if you are still interested or not.

. My parent died 4years ago in London . I'm the only daughter, the only kid of my folks. My dad is a half american/greek man and my mom is a native of america.

My boy friend, Victor Gregory gamed me alot and treated me so bad in our relationship, he absconded with my dad's money which was kept with me after a completion of a contract in EAST london,UK. When my boy friend absconded with the undisclosed sum of USdollars, this brought the first breakup between me and my dad, because he thought we had the deal together, but not knowing that I'm innocent about this. So my dad was harsh and tough against me about this then.

After all these happened to me and caused by my Ex boy friend, I joined a dating site where I met an African guy online who promised heaven and earth that he wants to marry me and make me happy in life; 'I never knew I was going from Fry-pan to Fire'. The African man told me of investment opportunities in Africa and he convinced me to come along with lots of money while coming down, which I did. On getting here, all his intention was to take away the money from me, played me and leave me alone.

I came from the United States with all the money I've gotten from my Dad's business and contracts renumeration Because the african guy told me of an idea to investment in Oil firms here. When I got here, he made all possibles means to get the money from me and get away with my money. Then when I noticed this, I took the money and my travelling boxes and deposited it with a Security/Insurance Company here in west Africa in order to save myself and my assets. Thereafter I left the guy's apartment to an hotel where I am in right now and from which I am communicating with you now.

Therefore, I don't want to fall into any other terrible situation again after all these that I have faced and I am not ready to be gamed this time. I need to be very sure of whom i will be friends with or date this time. I will need some words from you, which will prove to me about your interest in me and what exactly you want out of our friendship. , since i would be willing to settle down in the united states this time around as soon as you want me to, provided you will treat me in a good manner.

Well, let me hang on here till I hear from you. I hope you will understand my situation at this time and I hope you will come to my resuce and be of whom i expect you to be. I really need to be Loved because I really deserve it and I need a man that would always be there for me, who will be like a father and a friend to me,i will reciprocate true LOVE as well. Let me know if you are still interested in our Meeting in person.

Sincerely yours,

Hmmm,'Does any of this sound familiar'? Well let's see...
Here's one:'my mom is a native of america.' They don't know the difference between an 'American' and a 'Native American'! 2} 'My boy friend, Victor Gregory' who put's the full name like that in a letter to a stranger? 3}'When my boy friend absconded with the undisclosed sum of USdollars,' Do you know anyone that uses 'absconded'? And if it was in the UK,why USD and not Pounds or Euros? 4}' my travelling boxes' not a common term for suitcases! Need I go on? I could pick the letter apart more!
It's an old ploy and story,this one is a bit more well written than most but the error's I've pointed out and the other's I can lead me to conclude a scam.The 'travel/airfare/visa' type to be exact.Other's here I'm sure will concure.

BTW,the quality of that pic! typically BAD!
