Ok...I see what you mean. Compared with the Nigerians, Russian scammers are certainly sophisticated :D

Your scammer is probably using the BAT!...check the headers. It's a spam system that allows him to make minor revisions in his form mails to make them more personal. Prior to the money letter/travel suggestions, he won't even read what you've written, but once he sends flight details and/or the money letter, you'll notice a change in style. His mails will usually get shorter because now he's actually writing to you. And of course, the flight details have to be convincing as well. (He'll also get tired a lot :))))

The above mail that you posted is a variation of a standard that they send when you suggest buying the tickets yourself in the USA. Of course, it's complete bullshit. Theoretically, you could buy tickets in the US but you'd have to send them to Russia because 'she' needs to produce them at the US embassy before they will grant 'her' a visa.

I'll refer you to this section of my above post:

# she asks for money for a tourist 'visa' and/or maybe tickets, ignoring the fact that IT'S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SINGLE RUSSIAN GIRL TO GET A TOURIST VISA TO A WESTERN COUNTRY!

She can get a SPONSORED visa with your help, but then she needs a personal letter of invitation from you, a copy of your passport, a proof of your residence in your home country, a completed sponsor's application form (also from you)....not including the documents that she has to fill in herself. All of these she has to drop off at your national embassy in Moscow WITH PREPAID TICKETS and wait 10 working days. She also needs to be in FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT and include a letter from her employer.

These are the rules for the Schengen countries...the USA and Canada are almost the same. Anyway, a normal tourist visa + travel costs + hotel rooms would set her back 2000+ US dollars for a trip to the US. She should be asking you for a lot of money!

.....The point is that even if you were dealing with a real girl, there's no way that she could get a visa without booking hotels or a tour, and having a job in Russia, as well as tickets.... unless you sponsor her.

Here's a letter in Russian you can send to him if you like. The cyrillic version is best if you send it to the address that he supplied. Unless you yourself are using yahoo, hotmail or gmail, which are all cyrillic unfriendly. Otherwise use the Latin version. You also need to fill in the name of the city where he's supposed to be writing from, if he hasn't given you one, leave the question marks.

Привет хохол!
Пожалуйста, не оскорбляйте мой интеллект. Tы не живете в ?????, ты живете в Yoshkar Ola, преступный город в России. Tы посылаете мне украденные фотографии и копируете письма хуиня. Hello vile greedy one!
Please don't insult my intelligence. You don't live in (name of city), you live in Yoshkar Ola, a criminal city in Russia. You send me stolen photos and poor-quality copy letters. Soon, you'll ask for money to obtain a visa (impossible to obtain without a letter of invitation from me and tickets as well.)

Therefore I will save you some time. Go from here and seek an honest job, you miserable swindler. I'm not interested in your scam business. Get lost or I'll kick your ass. Fuck you!

I have bought with my credit card, plane tickets that were picked up at the overseas branches of my visitors. They took the tickets to US missions during visa interview. I always had the option if they couldn't make it, cancel the ticket for penalty less than $100. The foreign country in my post is NOT Russia.

If I tried the same in Russia, it is the Russian Federation that may still not allow my visitor to leave the country.

Just as I would do everything on my side, I will (at least in future!) DEMAND of my visitor FULL HOMEWORK on their country!

Sure OJAS....I know you can do that in Europe too. But visa/ticket restrictions are much tighter in Russia. A Russian citizen has to buy the tickets etc in Russia so that he/she pays any taxes in Russia too (although there isn't much tax on the tickets themselves). In other words, Russian travel agencies have a bit of a monopoly on travel arrangements for Russian citizens.

And normally by the way, I can transfer money directly from my bank account to bank accounts in about 30/40 different countries in the world via my internet account. But for some reason, I can't do it to a Russian account, I have to go into my local branch, which is a pain in the ass. I find it's easier to use Western Union actually.

My letter

Galina, how am I to know I'm sending the money to the right person without having your last name? I must have this or my bank said they would not allow me to wire the money. It is a rule and I can't get them to change their mind unless I give a large bribe.

What should I do??

Letter #13

You should contact with visa manager right now. Then we will continue.

subject Galina's Visa

Hey Galina was asking me to send money so she could get plane tickets. My bank told me I couldn't send anything undess I had the full contact information. I don't know why Galina is afraid to give me her full name. What am I going to do, fly over there??

My bank says I must have her full contact information or they would not allow me to wire the money. It is a rule and I can't get them to change their mind unless I give a large bribe.

What should I do??

Is there any way to report them to somebody?? I mean I am still communicating with them. It seems like a golden opportunity before they blow out this e-mail.

Not much you can do unless you actually get scammed for money. Then you can report it to the US Embassy in Moscow and the Russian Federal police. You can find email addresses on this site somewhere (OJAS probably knows where they are). You also have to keep your Western Union receipts and scam mails etc. Even then the chances of prosecution are minimal and involve at least one trip to Russia.

The best you can do is waste the scammers time by sending him to the bank for a couple of weeks to pick up money that isn't there (you made a mistake with the clearance code, you spelled her name wrong, etc)

Then post all his pics, mails and details etc here in the hope that any potential victims will do their homework and google there way to the thread. It's why this site exists.

Thank You for contact me. I see from Your message that You serious and
responsible in Your decision.

We used special international service for wire money. It is safe and
clearly for all sides. This payments system called 'e-gold'. I think
You have heard about this system. it is very popular in America and
Europe. But only few organization used it in our country. We begun to
used it not much time ago but this system already proved it is secure,
fast and cheapest way.

First of all You need to create Your e-gold account. It is easy and
free and occupied about 5 minutes. You can make it on a official
website (You need to choose link 'Create An Account' on
this website)

If you have any questions I am ready to help You. I work every day
9:00-19:00 (Time Zone GMT +2:00)

Please write me back and confirm that You get this message and agree

Mr xxxxxx!

My work here is too assist You in Your wishes to help Miss Galina with
cost of ticket only.
I can not speak in English.

You can try incorrect passphrase and e-gold account number so many
times as You can. But if it is incorrect You will never get access to
Your e-gold account.
SO You need to click on link 'forgot Your password' on e-goild. Or
create new e-gold account with new email address. ANd this time You
will need to save all information included passphrase and alternate

I'm growing tired of playing with him, I think I'll let them fade away now.
