Is anyone else talking to this girl? I have run her photos here and it seems someone else is checking them besides myself. Nothing comes back other than they have been checked. I am pretty certain this is a scam. I got the form letter about her living with her mother and the only other close people are her grandmother and girlfriend. Her father she doesn't know and her mother and grandmother will not speak of him. And yep, her name is Tatyana and she is a nurse in Lum, Kirov area. Shes using a GMail account so I can't track her ISP any further than California. What is interesting is while the girl in the photo is very attractive she is by no means a super model. Also the photos are washed out. Like from a scanner or cell phone. She even stated in one of her emails that the 'internet cafe' had a scanner that she was just learning how to use. Also, I get an email from her with a photo at the same time every day, plus or minus about 30 minutes. So far nothing sexual at all. Not even a bikini. The bath photo here is the closest thing to sex from her. If this is indeed a scam she/he/it/they are very good. I asked for a certain pic and some other things and she delivered. We've been corresponding over a week now and so far she has mentioned nothing about love or an intimate relationship. Also, she hasn't mentioned anything about any of the IM programs we could chat on. No money either! I've given her opportunities but she didn't take the bait. She contacted me first through Yahoo personals so I'm pretty certain shes not for real. If you are corresponding with her PAY ATTENTION. She makes very few mistakes in her emails. Not many but there are a few if you look for them. She isn't available on Sunday for an email. I suppose even scammers need one day a week off. I'll run with her for awhile until maybe I can get some more info like a surname and address. Stay tuned this should be fun!!

good job, anonymous USA, looks like you've got a new set of scam pics there (probably stolen from her website). Or maybe she's a local Yoshkar Ola girl.

a proxy server in California = Yoshkar Ola scam

Faded pics are a traditional scammer technique - they reckon that if the pics are too new, scam vics won't believe that the girl is poor and desperate:

'The photos should look so bad. Whence could a poor Russian girl get money for the digital camera. Good photos cause many questions and superfluous doubts. So that. Photos should be blurred. It
acts on 100 % beautiful photos these are 95 percent of success.'

Actually, it's the other way round. Real Russian girls know that bad pics attract cheap guys and try to get a decent photo set done (often corny ones in a studio, posing with a chair or something).

This scam seems quite similar to several on this forum....for example Dating scammer Anna Petrovna Sotova

To any newcomers who find their way to this thread: PLEASE READ THIS!!!!

taken from the 'ARE YOU BEING SCAMMED AND IS THIS YOUR FIRST VISIT HERE?' welcome page just below this one:

SOME GENERAL INFO ABOUT RUSSIAN GIRLS, AND HOW TO SPOT RUSSIAN DATING SCAMMERS:

# 'girl' writes to you first on a dating site...especially a free one (or an email appears out of nowhere in your mailbox). Real Russian girls are rarely so bold as to write to you first. (unless you're obviously very attractive or rich :))) They will often reply to your mails, but rarely take the initiative. It's the man who does the chasing in Russia. Plus, if they're looking for a partner, they generally prefer him to be Russian speaking and live in Russia. Much more convenient!

# doesn't answer direct questions (sometimes factual mistakes in the letter). Her replies should be exactly that...replies...however short they are.

# girl's much too young for you (or too good to be true/looks like a model/porno star)....although I have noticed a recent tendency for some scammers to use photos of slightly 'less attractive' girls as well.

# girl has some far-fetched excuses for you not visiting her in Russia (criminal city, not the Russian custom, terrorism, it's her dream to come to your country, etc). ALL BULLSHIT!! Actually, the normal way to meet a Russian girl is to visit her in her city first. Russian TV is full of documentaries about Russian girls who have emigrated and got murdered, abandoned, etcetc. They should usually want to meet you first before they gallivant off to your country.

# scammers rarely have children, but most of the real Russian women I've ever met on the internet did (except for Moscow career girls). It's often the reason that they're looking for a partner.

# photos are too revealing (can't be a respectable girl). Respectability is very important to most Russian women (especially Moscow career girls). They're hardly likely to send a half-naked photo to a virtual stranger on the internet. Think about it!

# most of the pics are old and a little bit faded with a curiously grainy quality that soon becomes quite easy to recognise (overuse?). Again a scammer admitted to me that low-quality photos are a key factor in his scamming. I found this curious because a serious Russian girl who's looking for a partner very often saves up and goes to a professional to have a studio set done (often corny ones posing with a chair etc), and/or borrows a digicam at least (dates should also be on the photos you receive). My fianc饠did it. Russian girls aren't all that poor anymore, and if they seriously want to leave Russia, they know that posting cheap pics will only attract cheap guys.

# GIRL CLAIMS NOT TO HAVE A MOBILE PHONE. Very unlikely!!! fer f***'s sake.....do you know a single girl without a mobile phone? Even poor Russian girls can't do without one, they're much cheaper than in Europe and a Megafon telephone card doesn't cost that much either. You should be able to call her whenever you want. On the other hand, not having a landline or a desktop/laptop is very common.

# very long rambling/ecstatic form letters with a strange format, punctation and layout written in scamlish. (world's worst Babelfish translation)

# writes long letters everyday in English. How does she have time to write those long letters if she's working? And if she doesn't have a job, how can she afford a computer + internet connection? Even Internet café are relatively expensive in Russia. Anyway, most Russians outside Moscow can hardly speak a word of English. (What's the point of finding a girl you can't communicate with, at least on a basic level?) PLUS.. if she can't speak English, why does she have a non-cyrillic email account like gmail or yahoo? Most real Russians use mail.ru, yandex.ru or inbox.ru....though hotmail and yahoo are acceptable if she'll chat with you on messenger (preferably with a webcam).

# falls in 'love' very quickly. Don't let your ego, kind heart, loneliness or lust pull the wool over your eyes. She doesn't really know you. You could be an axe murderer for all she knows. As I mentioned, Russian TV is full of documentaries about Russian girls who have emigrated and got murdered, abandoned, etcetc.

# uses a proxy server to hide his/her location, ie a SOCKS server / GPRS Internet. if you can't trace 'her' IP, it's 100% scam.
THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IS TRACE HER IP ADDRESS. In fact, it's the only thing you need to do really.

MOST IMPORTANT...if you get this far:

# she asks for money for a tourist 'visa' and/or maybe tickets, ignoring the fact that IT'S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SINGLE, POOR RUSSIAN GIRL TO GET A TOURIST VISA TO A WESTERN COUNTRY!
Most Russian girls outside Moscow and St Petersburg are quite poor, and immigration control would consider them an overstay risk. They would never let be let into your country without a healthy bank account.

PLEASE NOTE: She can get a SPONSORED visa with your help, but then she needs a personal letter of invitation from you, a copy of your passport, a proof of your residence in your home country, a completed sponsor's application form (also from you)....not including the documents that she has to fill in herself. She also needs a job in Russia, a letter from her employer and insurance. All of these documents she has to drop off at your national embassy in Moscow WITH PREPAID TICKETS and wait about 10 working days. These are the rules for the Schengen countries anyway...the USA and Canada are almost as, if not more, complicated. Anyway, a normal TOURIST visa + travel costs + hotel rooms would set her back 2000+ US dollars for a trip to the US. She should be asking you for a lot of money! Why should it be so easy for a gorgeous sexy Russian girl just to jump on a plane and fall into bed with you? Anyway, no respectable Russian girl would ask directly for money, but might accept some if you insisted.

NB...you should check your national embassy website in Moscow for visa prices and procedures

I started this thread. Not sure how to go back and change my name from 'Hidden'. Too bad this is a scam. I like this girl and she fits well into what I'm looking for. Were she for real I'd be headed over to see her! And nope, I wouldn't tell anyone about this one until I had her tied down! That is if you beleive the emails from the scammers.

One thing that struck me here is, like most scams, she says she has no children. She sure looks like she has born a child to me. Very defined pelvic structure. Also, look really close to see if it is the same girl in all three photos. Kinda hard to tell. The last one in the red dress she isn't smiling. All of the other pics I have from her she is smiling. Maybe I'm looking too close.

Anyway, can't wait to see what I get at 19:30 Kirov time today. I'll be sure to come back with updates.

I have been talking with a 'Tatyana' who has the exact same story as mentioned above/below for a couple of months now, very few differences in the info. Lives with mom, grandmother & friend are close, no father (never mentioned anything about her father until I asked), she's a nurse - but at Sovetsk hospital, not available Sundays (but did get one e-mail on a Sunday). Although, I have DIFFERENT pics of what she is supposed to look like and the pics are very clear and good quality. We started communication through a yahoo e-mail and later it switched to a g-mail. I do have a home address (but not totally sure if it's ligitimate now), a full name, no land line or cell phone number (but actually talked on the phone once). We have discussed an intimate relationship and I thought of going over to see her to check things out but then I did some digging and found this kind of stuff you guys are talking about. NOT REALLY sure who would meet me on the other end !!

Yep, sounds oh so familiar. Before you take off to go see her just keep talking for awhile and see if you get the money letter. Or perhaps when you mention going to see her she will not be in favor of it. You can test her without being insulting. The first scam is a bitter pill to swallow. Do you have all of the emails? Go back and look for factual mistakes and some unanswered questions. One of the things I found with this girl is it is often more of what she doesn't say that tells on her. What I have learned is that real Russian girls almost never contact men. They are also very guarded about anything intimate with someone they do not know and/or have met with. Switching email addresses is sort of telling. Especially to a gmail account. Gmail blocks IP addresses so they can't be traced any further than California. One of the reasons that scammers like using Gmail. If you are talking with the same people I am PAY ATTENTION! They are very good and you have to look close. The tell in the end will be if you get the money letter without going over there.
