My Dear ,
I am more than happy in your urgent reply to my mail.
How was your day?. mine was a little bit fine over here in Dakar Senegal, hoping that you too must be fine over there now.

So like i told you before my name is Esther Diane i am 23 yrs old from ivory coast in west Africa and presently i am residing in the refugee camp here in Dakar Senegal as a result of the civil war going on in my country.

My late father Dr Banabas Diane was a prominent successful business man and a politician under the government of Late Gen. Robert Gue the former head of state before the rebels attacked my house one early morning killing my mother and my father, It was only me that is alive now and i managed to make my way to near by country Senegal where i am leaving now.

I would like to know many more about you, Your residents, Your likes and dislikes, your hobbies and what you are doing presently, and please everything about you. I will tell more about myself in my next mail.
Bellow here is my two pictures,
Hoping to hear from you soonest.
Thanks Esther.

then i had got another email saying...

My dear,
How are you today hope all is well and fine? mine i thank God for today.
just like i told you in my first mail that I'm from ivory-coast, but due to the war in my country, that cost the dead of my parents which made me to stay hear as a refuge. please remember that in a any good relationship distance or age dose not matters, what matters is how you care about him/her , so please bear with me for the distance and age.

Well, my condition here is terrible Its just like someone in the prison and i hope by Gods grace i will come out soon. i don't have any relatives now whom i can go to all our relatives ran away in the middle of the war the only person i have now is Rev Paul Samson. who is the pastor of the our Church (Christ the king Churches) here in the camp, he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather I'm leaving in the women's hostel (inside the camp) because here they have two hostels one for the men the other for women.

In case you want to call me, here is the Rev. Tel number ( 00221-76-52-78-882 ) or ( 00221-76-83-42-568 ). if you call and tell him that you want to speak with me he will send for me in the hostel because of my condition here i don't have much access or privilege to some things be it money or whatever because it is against the law of this country. and i really want to go back to my studies because i only attended my first year before the tragic incident that lead to my being in this situation now took place.

Please listen to this, i have my late Father's Bank Deposit Certificate of Account and His death certificate here with me ( as his next of kin ) which i will send to you latter, because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in a leading bank in United kingdom which he used my name as the next of kin, the amount in question is $6.5m(Six Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ) So what i need from you is, for you to please help me and see that this money is transferred from the bank to a good account and also to make arrangement on how i will come over there and continue my life and education..

my choosing you is a question i knew you must ask and i think it is a good question. i have two reasons for choosing you, i chooses you because it is the will of God. and i believe knowing you will bring hope back again to my life. my choosing you does not mean i do not have anybody from Africa. i have two uncles, i mean my late fathers junior brothers whom i think are suppose to be taking care of me but they do not care, all they did was to sold my late father's houses and company to one Mr Olson Steven from u.s.a and enjoy the money alone with their wives.

i wanted to tell Olson about it but should my uncles know of the money, they can kill me ,so that they will take money, it was as if my Late father saw their deed because he told the implication of having a big money in Africa and that was the reason while he made the deposit in Scotland. the day i wrote you first, i picked up three address from the Web Site i mate you, and i prayed over it with my Rev, father. he broth a pieces of paper and wrote the three email address in it and fold it, he ask me to pick one among the three and i picked your email address, then i decided to write you and i also believe that it is the will of God.

However you can call me with the reverend office phone line above, my favorite language is English but our official language is French , but i speak English very fluently because i attended an American and English speaking private school all in my country for almost all my school, and i will be happy to see your your picture and also try to call me as requested so that we can hear each other voices, i have a lot to tell, as i will be waiting to hear from you soonest,
Thanks and have a wonderful day.
Miss Esther.

i use to live in senegal and heard lots of stories like that and a guy i met here told me about that because he has been victim. he lost in all about 9000€ we found out that everything organized by some nigerians living in dakar and others in europ. False passeports, fotos and allways the same story. i even talk to this false reverend. they are dangerous, and they traped this guy in belgium in a hotel where they gave him a meeting to handig out the milions of his 'girl-friend'!
forget about internet to find a wife!
and if you have too much money, open your window and through it out, makes much more scence... don't let them make you an idiot! By the way ivory coast is a french spoken country, these guys speak nothing but english! all mails are writen by a man, they pay girls to talk on phone. it's always a man who comes to western union to get the money. with a false passport of cause!
so all the best an don't try your luck...

'rue 31x24 medina dakar' this adresse leads you anywhere, like evrything it's fake! usually you need a name and the housenumber. this is only showing a crossing of street 31 and street 24 in a quartier called medina in dakar. it's one of the most crowded parts of dakar.
so again, keep your energie, forget money you sent, if not tou'll loose even more.
i know dakar and i didn't find them, never the less i was close...

Your responder was considerate enough, since some words, as a regular contributor says cannot and should not be translated!

Listen up guys... this is an interesting read outlines Nigeria's hotbed activity and a typical scammer interview. Take heed !

Online scams create 'Yahoo! millionaires'

In Lagos, where scamming is an art, the quickest path to wealth for the cyber-generation runs through a computer screen.

(FORTUNE Magazine) - Akin is, like many things in cyberspace, an alias. In real life he's 18. He wears Adidas sneakers, a Rolex Submariner watch, and a kilo of gold around his neck. Akin, who lives in Lagos, is one of a new generation of entrepreneurs that has emerged in this city of 15 million, Nigeria's largest. His mother makes $30 a month as a cleaner, his father about the same hustling at bus stations. But Akin has made it big working long days at Internet cafes and is now the main provider for his family and legions of relatives.

Call him a 'Yahoo! millionaire.'

Akin buys things online - laptops, BlackBerries, cameras, flat-screen TVs - using stolen credit cards and aliases. He has the loot shipped via FedEx or DHL to safe houses in Europe, where it is received by friends, then shipped on to Lagos to be sold on the black market. (He figures Americans are too smart to sell a camera on eBay to a buyer with an address in Nigeria.)

Akin's main office is an Internet cafe in the Ikeja section of Lagos. He spends up to ten hours a day there, seven days a week, huddled over one of 50 computers, working his scams.

And he's not alone: The cafe is crowded most of the time with other teenagers, like Akin, working for a 'chairman' who buys the computer time and hires them to extract e-mail addresses and credit card information from the thin air of cyberspace. Akin's chairman, who is computer illiterate, gets a 60 percent cut and reserves another 20 percent to pay off law enforcement officials who come around or teachers who complain when the boys cut school. That still puts plenty of cash in Akin's pocket.

A sign at the door of the cafe reads, WE DO NOT TOLERATE SCAMS IN THIS PLACE. DO NOT USE E-MAIL EXTRACTORS OR SEND MULTIPLE MAILS OR HACK CREDIT CARDS. YOU WILL BE HANDED OVER TO THE POLICE. NO 419 ACTIVITY IN THIS CAFE. The sign is a joke; 419 activity, which refers to the section of the Nigerian law dealing with obtaining things by trickery, is a national pastime. There are no coherent laws relating to internet scams, the police are mostly computer illiterate, and penalties for financial crimes are rarely enforced

'What do you want me to do?' Akin asks in pidgin English, explaining why he turned to a life of Internet crime. 'It is my God-given talent. Our politicians, they do their own; me, I'm doing my own. I feed my family - my sister, my mother, my popsie. Man must survive.'

The scams perpetrated by Akin and his comrades are many and varied: Moneygram interceptions, Western Union hijackings, check laundering, identity theft, and outright begging, with tall tales of dying relatives and large sums of money in search of safe haven. One popular online fraud often practiced by women (or boys pretending to be women) involves separating lonely men from their money.

Attempts to speak to government officials about Internet crime were futile. They all claimed ignorance of such scams; some laughed it off as Western propaganda.
Some officials, who asked not be identified, said young people are drawn to Internet crime as a way of getting back at a society that has no plans for them. Others see it as a form of reparation for the sins of the West.

Or as Akin puts it, 'White people are too gullible. They are rich, and whatever I gyp them out of is small change to them.'
