I have been communicating to Nancy Fuller from a match. com listing. The scammer is better with the English language than many of his peers in Nigeria. He followed the traditional scam though and his info about the USA way of life came through in the end. I suspected nacy to be a scam, when her listing on match.com dissappeared after a couple days. I have included how I 'played' with this scammer for awhile (I'm bored) before She signed off. It was a lot of fun. Here is the Yahoo IM last conversation. ENJOY and be care out there.

sweetie i have got a problem here...after getting my flight booked,i used up all the cash on me and i need to pay my hotel before leaving here, and i am really short of cash now...i dont know what to do now
Rick: Cash, I only use credit cards on trips...Use your credit card....
Nancy Fuller: I have got checks here and cant get them cash before they dont have international banking
Nancy Fuller: i dont use cards...i only use checks....I did have bad experience using checks in the past
Rick: Ok, find a bank and cash a check. I have several friends who have traveled in w africa extensively and have told me that Lagos is a huge city and that there are banks there that they cashed checks and money orders all the time. Since you are going to MM airport tomorrow they probably have a bank there or for sure there is a bank in Lagos. He also said many hotels will exchange and cash travelers checks and checks.
Nancy Fuller: there are no place to cash them here...i have international money orders here
Nancy Fuller: i have tried so many banks today and no luck
Rick: I just called him and he said there are special exchange shops that will exchange international currency, credit cards, checks, money orders, etc.
Nancy Fuller: No i dont think so because i have been to so many places and dont wanna loss my flight tomorrow
Rick: He also said try the American embassy in Lagos. They have helped many americans with the same concerns.
Nancy Fuller: where is he?
Rick: He lives in Charleston, and I am on the phone with him now .....why?
Rick: He stayed at a place called Thomas Cook properties or something like that....the name of the Hotel is Tivoli Lagos and he assures me that you can cash checks/money oreders, international stuff there. The motel is set up for tourist mainly from USA. He also says there is another location that is affiliated with Thomas Cook call Marina Park Apartments (near Lagos marina) that is set up the same way. Not sure where any of these are located...but he said they are easy to find.
Nancy Fuller: dont know any place here
Nancy Fuller: can u cash the check for me
Rick: How would that work since you are leaving in about 24 hours?
Nancy Fuller: i dont even know
Nancy Fuller: i dont go out here and lives in a very rural area here
Nancy Fuller: i have got some money on and just short of 400 dollars
Rick: How would I cash a check for you if you are in W Africa and I am here? I am not a bank.
Nancy Fuller: I will get it written in your name and you take it to your bank and get it cashed
Rick: I understand how a check works but how are you physically going to get it to me?
Nancy Fuller: Thats the problem now...It will like 2 days before it gets to you
Nancy Fuller: It will be sent to you via Fedex
Rick: I don't know that will work....its the holiday weekend and deer hunting season most banks are closed for about 7 days now.
Nancy Fuller: Oh okay
Rick: Have you tried the Red Cross or other humanitarian agencies? Since you are a contractor with the United States Government...they will help you through this.
Nancy Fuller: I work alone
Nancy Fuller: i am a freelance researcher
Nancy Fuller: i dont work for the government
Rick: But you are an american citizen. Sorry the phone rang and my friend just called me back and said he has friends in Lagos at the american embassy that gave me this info....Lagos: American Consulate Lagos, Public Affairs Section, 2 Broad Street; P. 0. Box 554, Lagos, Nigeria. Telephone: 234-01-2630933 Fax: 2635397 firstname.lastname@example.org ...Also US Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive Central District Area Abuja, Nigeria City: Abuja Phone: (234)-9-461-4000 Fax: (234)-9-461-4036 Web Site: http://abuja.usembassy.gov/
Email: Consularabuja@state.gov...This is the best bet he said....they help american citizens all the time and they can be trusted. He said that many places in W Africa (especially Nigeria) there are lots of folks scamming and such. BE CAREFUL.
Rick: I don't have much time left before I need to leave to go to work. If you give me the name of your bank here in Washington PA I will drive up and talk with the President of the bank and discuss your situation with your check (Fed Ex) and help you through this situation. We may have to use electronic means to get the money back to you though since time is so short.
Nancy Fuller has signed out. (11/27/2008 12:16 PM)
