Other Comments: I met this 'girl' on Mate1.com and she seemed perfect. We started chatting outside the website, as I was there on a trial basis. She made me believe that she only wanted to talk to me and even had me erase her profile from there, to show she was for real.
She claimed her name was Anabel Osei MORRISON, D.O.B. 12 May 1979 and that she was an Australian citizen working in Ghana with a company similar to Red Cross. She sent me a few pictures and she was really hot! After chatting online for 3 weeks, I must admit I was smitten: she was everything I was looking for in a woman. She said that she wants to come see me in Toronto.
After that, the excuses for lack of money started: her credit card was not accepted in a Ghanese bank, so she needed cash to buy the ticket. She said she was short $300 and asked if I could send it to her, then she would give it back to me when she comes over. I sent her the money with Western Union. Then, she said she bought the ticket, but now needed some kind of fee to leave Ghana, as it is their Immigration rule to have $3,500 in your possession when you leave the country.
This made me suspicious, as the document she supposedly got from Immigration was attached in my e-mail and had several discrepancies, including some really poor altering. I also checked the reservation for her ticket, but it said that the ticket was not purchased (she told me that she had). Now, she wanted me to send her as much as the $3,500 so that she could leave the country. When I told her that I can't help out, she dropped it down to $ 1,000, saying she managed to get the rest on her own.
I stopped all communication with 'her' today, realizing I had been scammed and wanted to share my story with others, so that they don't fall in the same trap I did.
P.S. The last picture I uploaded is of the so-called 'Immigration Document' she wanted me to believe was official. There are SO many indiscrepancies, it's not funny. Hope this helps someone.
