I had a profile posted on an American dating web site and a female from my area answered me.
Her letter was a few lines long, in good English and she seemed honest and cute, so I replied.
The letter said she had a read-only trial account and would not be able to receive messages,
so she included a yahoo email address. She asked me to write to this yahoo email address.
I did this and a few days later her trial account was gone, she explained that she deleted
it because she found me. (that is what she answered, when I asked her about it)
This girl claimed to live in Kazan, Tartastan, 26 years old and called herself Barbi.
There was something suspicious about her letters, in particular I always had the
impression that she did not really read mine every time. Sometimes she wrote
personal, matching replies, then sometimes not. her photos of which she sent
about 25 so far, had number like 5.jpg, 6.jpg, 35.jpg etc.
Yesterday I did a query for some phrases of some of her emails and found them
posted on 2 other web sites. Apparently she wrote identical letters to other guys
using different names and different pictures. She or he asked those guys for money,
supposedly for tickets or visa paperwork. I guess I am lucky that she never asked
me for any money. However, I felt fooled when I saw "my" emails had also been
sent in parts to other guys.
For that reason I will post her here letters. I know that parts of these letters
have been posted on 2 other sites, but not all.
I include the full headers in the first email. The sender comes from a russian
dial-up but in another email I sent her a URL to one of my web sites and apparantly
"she" uses some sort of satellite DSL for the downstream, the IP number was
84.xx (to be filled in later).

Hi Peter! Have good day! Peter, you ask, where I live - to To regret
it is far from you. Otherwise it was not necessary for us much e-mail,
To learn each other. I for the first time have acquaintance through
the Internet. It was very difficult to me to place my structure in a
service of acquaintances, because I am in Russia, the service of
acquaintances does not accept the members from this country. I had to
specify in a profile, that I am in USA. In this letter I shall inform
you a little information myself and if the dialogue with me will be
interesting to you, I shall tell about myself in more detail in the
following letters. I live in an average part of Russia, in city Kazan
in Tatarstan republic. But if we shall decide to meet, I hope, that it
not Will be a problem for us because I have made a little Travel to
other countries. I was in the several countries of Europe; For example
Turkey, Italy, Germany. I made these travel as The tourist. Therefore
Peter, you should not have excitement be relative That we not beside.
I such woman, that if I shall like The person for a meeting I shall
reach even on the moon. Besides in Our days is not a problem to make
such travel. I not I worry about it and I have necessary feelings to
get acquainted and it is possible To have relations with the person of
other state. It is very interesting - Other culture, thinking,
traditions. For me this new-Probably and you Peter Can learn, that
such the Russian woman. I hope that you have not lost interest to me
and will answer me soon. I wait for yours e-mail, my American friend.

neighbour and have let off that little mouse. Peter You e-mail means
for me, that I too was interesting to you. You Really Peter, see a
picture of me nice? Peter, at me is present to you It is a lot of
questions and I would like to ask them in the messages, I hope you
Will allow to me answers to them - OK? You for me the nice person, And
on this for me it is important to know your opinion on some things. Me
to not irritate, that you to be more senior than me. I to search for
the mature man, which would be to wise and scientific life. I like the
men which is more senior than me and can learn me to something in this
short life. I to want to connect destiny with the man of such age as
you. I think, that you read my structure and could see there, that I
haves serious intentions to get acquainted with the good person for
relations . I shall try to tell a little about my character. I do not
know as it to start, I think, that I very romantic person. I like to
communicate with people, it is pleasant to me Good humour. I very much
appreciate such qualities in people, as fidelity and honesty. I
believe in love, and I think it very valuable thing which needs to be
protected. I very much The jealous person. I adore, when to me pay
compliments and is ready to listen to them indefinitely. For me it is
necessary, that around of me there was a cleanliness and the order, I
frequently am engaged cleaning. Also to me to like to prepare for a
meal, various tasty things. It is pleasant to me romantic relations
between the man and The woman, but probably all women dream to get
acquainted with good The person to have with him beautiful romantic
relations. But frequently such things come to an end Very quickly. I
have no intention to spend myself on such acquaintances. While I have
not met In the life of such person to which I would decide to give
myself and the life. But me it would be desirable to find such person.
I think, that for the woman the main thing to have in a life not
Career or other success, and strong family and the favourite person
beside what to care of him. Tell please, you dream to meet what woman
in the life? Excuse Peter, that I ask you to discuss such frank thing
with The person whom you know couple of days. But it is interesting to
me to know It about you. I shall wait for yours e-mail. Yours
Hi , I was sad that you do not write me and do not answer on my
letters. There can be I you than that has offended or you simply play
with me in games? I wait from you of the answer. Yours Barbi.
At that point I had started to ignore her because her letters were ridiculous, not reflecting what I had written.
However, things picked up then again..
thanks for posting! Unfortunately, your Natalia Duka is not an exclusive, at least not her pics. I recognized the one in the boat and the one by the pool. I can't find them though, but I know they're on delphifaq somewhere. I would guess the scammer's name is different, of course.
so sadly, it seems you got scammed by a pro. However, 'her' approach is certainly original. Never heard anything like it!
6 months of mails? 9 minutes on the phone? the fact that you could actually call her on the phone in the first place, ie that she gave you a number? unusual for a scammer. The fact that she was a real girl?.... sounds like she was improvising as well. doesn't fit any pattern I've come across.
BTW.... 700 USD is the equivalent of 4 months' average wage in a poor Russian city, eg Yoshkar Ola.
...a train ticket, one way, Moscow-Saratov, 3rd class, costs less than 30 bucks for a Russian citizen.
...you could have sponsored her trip to the US. It's complicated, but possible. I've done it twice, though admittedly to Sweden, a Schengen country, but the rules are quite similar. All she needed was a round-trip ticket, insurance, a bit of cash and you to guarantee her upkeep for the length of her stay. There are lots of documents involved Of course, INS would have vetted both of you very thoroughly first. And they might still have rejected her application.
I find the whole of your scam scenario very confusing. Then she supposedly took your $780 and went to Turkey with it?
Did you think to trace the IP addresses on her mails? I'd be interested to see where they were coming from.
I'm afraid there's no doubt you've been scammed, but just who is this person (are these people)? Could be a Yoshkar Ola scammer and his girlfriend singled you out to pay for their 3-week holiday in Turkey.
PS it's much easier to read text if you use paragraphs.

'Barbi' aka Olga at: email@example.com is the same girl shown on this page
as 'Barbi'. She started writing me on gmail out of the blue and then called me up on
a work phone number I gave her. Olga/Barbi has all the characteristicks of a scammer,
and the phone call was well done by a female. I asked her if all the men in Russia are
dead. She replied, no, they are all drunk. She did not get any money out of mel Thanks for the good job on this site.

Thanks for posting USA...convenient that 'she' called you, but we can never call them.
To any newcomers on this thread. ...PLEASE READ THIS!!!
The vast majority of Russian dating scammers are not women at all, but actually men, mostly students, working in organized cells - known as 'offices' in Russian slang - in or around Yoshkar Ola, the capital of Mari El republic, sometimes in Chuvashia....occasionally further afield.
Most scammers are VERY lazy and only looking for quick cash money. They use email extractor programs to get your mail addresses (if you don't have a profile on a dating site, that is)...for example:
..and multiple identities with copied form mails and spam programs on automatic reply, very often the BAT!, with which they can personalize small parts of each letter if necessary.
They mostly won't read your mails until after the pay-off - known as the 'money letter'- because they don't have time, ie because they're mailing, and trying to scam, as many guys as they can (economies of scale).....and also because they're semi-literate lowlifes who can't speak much English anyway. They call this initial phase 'zakidka' -- which means 'fill 'em up' in Russian slang. IN OTHER WORDS, you can write almost anything in your replies and they won't notice, the scammers only get interested when they're curious to see if you've taken the bait.
It's virtually guaranteed that the girls in these scam pics aren't directly involved in the scamming because the scammers steal their pics from the internet or pay unsuspecting friends for them, or buy and exchange them on scammer websites. Mostly they steal them! (Once an experienced Russian scammer actually admitted to me that he stole all his pics from army-of-brides.com and mamba.ru). Occasionally they'll use a local girl for a pic set, usually a scammer groupie. Real female accomplices are otherwise only involved either to phone a guy up, for the sake of credibility, or to pick up the loot at Western Union.
And more recently, the majority of Russian scammers have started using proxy servers or IP spoofing to hide their real locations so ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO DO IS TRACE THEIR IP ADDRESS to confirm the scam! (if you haven't worked it out already, of course). Untraceable IP address = scam.
Further info about scammers and real Russian women, and a whole lot more, can be found in the ..

A delphi query can get obsolete.
E.g. My answer to http://www.delphifa..p=69#58830 was to ku* Have to confess I was simply lucky no English words (to my knowledge) exist with these 2 letters in succession, so all the hits at that time were for this scammer. (delphi will hit these regardless of which portion of a word contains the root alphabets consecutively). Enter Eddie ... He posts the word Kungsholmen and poses a new challenge real or perceived. Now the query changes to kuc* OR kus* OR kuz* The third character ensures I don't hit Kungsholmen, which if I want I query with kung* just enough characters for uniqueness, since I am not good with spelling
Here is a related discussion on scammer tactics with a different name http://www.delphifa..p=0#58504
That too needs updating to allow for another scammer ulia The new query will be a bit cumbersome / cumbrous to present, but can be broken down into 2 economical queries instead of one huge query
PS For a German finding a scammer in Switzerland the query wuscht will never get obsolete!!
Ha, 'wuscht' makes smile again. A wrong spelled slang expression for sausage in an idiomatic term that means 'I don't care'. Direct translation g2e: 'This to me is sausage'.
But the swiss guy turned out to be just an immigrant and not a scammer. The poster who accused him and called himself Peter suppressed his norwegian country flag.
Sure, nothing happens here today but nevertheless I don't want to revive an NSE. Peace.
Are you that bored that you are going through the german thread by translator? If so you won't get far. Some people there got no command of their own language and the most of those are NOT immigrants. Others of course, like the furry one, are to good on it to be get by engines.
OJAS from United States
I have no interest in sparking another Northsea round. Let peace continue to reign. I mistook an immigrant for a scammer after the exchanges in a non-English language. I do know when I read poor English, it doesn't say much about intentions. It takes far more analyses after setting language skills aside. But scamlish in English has a flavor its own.
My purpose was only to illustrate query constructions which may have to be renewed from time to time
1) Natal (i)(j)(y)a + Natasha in delphi can be queried as Nata*
2) (i)(j)(y)ul(i)(j)(y)a + ul(i)(j)(y)a is better split into 2 queries iul* OR jul* OR yul* and ulia OR ulja OR ulya (In the second query ul* is a bad choice, will hit too many English words like full)
3) I favor query using unusual constructions (even in non-English languages) - Spelling mistakes / typos, grammatical / syntactical - I have so far not found punctuational as a useful query parameter
Whatever this 'Lily' is up to or whoever does post that mugu bs should PLEASE insert some paragraphs at least. I spam it.
OJAS, yes I am still following the query science. Suppose my comments got enough mistakes to find them easily.
I guess there are two different Julias in russian as in german too. We got an english version 'Dshulia', like Roberts, more a nick and used as serious name only by our 'untouchables', and a german one: 'Yulia', both spelled Julia. In Russia there are more Yulias than Dshulias I found out by googling, relation 3:1 I'd say.
OJAS from United States
I never meant to suggest you could be making errors in German or English for that matter.
When I see posts like this http://www.delphifa..p=42#50948 (probably from UK) there are 2 possibilities. An Anglophile has done cosiderable extra homework to conclude in a non-English thread that so and so is a scammer - He must be a polyglot, so I took him on his word that it was a scammer (later turns out to be an immigrant). At the other extreme we have Anglophiles posting arbitrarily in the first thread they open (e.g non-English thread, primer thread). These guys with zero homework, who first shoot from their hips, are bound to mislead newbies
I heard on American media that more countries are expected to become Schengen-friendly. Switzerland may join as well. That will leave UK and Ireland as the ONLY 2 EU countires as non-signitories. Keep your eyes open as our Schengen guys will be posting updates.
This BBC link http://www.bbc.co.u..2/A1146115 could soon be obsolete. The reporter admits in that link, he does not have good answer to the question ''Who needs a Schengen Visa?''
There is NO native English speaking country that is fully Schengen-friendly, now or in the near future. Follow posts by our Schengen guys, they have better understanding than English media reporters.

More on delphi query
delphi treats period / full-stop as zero to one single wildcard ordinary charater
Problem: Scammer keeps changing first names like Lena Elena Helena Yelena Gelina
Solution: Query delphi for ..lena hits 100 from those + 20 pics (about the maximum in delphi home-made report on hits)
Slight draw-back: delphi will also hit Galena which satisfies our query (probably adding NOT Galena would exclude Galena, but I need to do more testing later)
