Is this Russian girl scamming me? How to recognize scammers

Are you an American or Western European man exchanging emails with a girl from Russia? I was contacted by a girl who turned out to be a scammer. Reader Derrick put together some great advice how to detect scammers.
I only have one advice (#8) to add: If a Russian girl tells you that she will get a visa to the USA instead of inviting you, that is - under the current immigration law - a SURE sign that SHE LIES.

Here is the process how a Russian woman can come to the USA:

If she is considered a relatively young/ attractive woman (let's say under 40, hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings here), then there is virtually NO CHANCE THAT SHE GETS A TOURIST VISA TO THE USA. First the Russian Federation will not allow her to leave the country. Then, even if she was getting out, the USA will deny her admission. The reasoning is that she is considered a risk. How could she not be a risk? If she had family in Russia (husband, children) or a valuable business or real estate. Most likely the woman who writes you will be considered a risk. The only way for her to get a visa into the USA is this procedure:

  1. the foreign man visits her in her native area in Russia
  2. they get engaged during such a visit - take photos of the 2 of you together
  3. he flies back and applies for a K-1 visa. A K-1 visa is also known as Fiancee visa, used for marriage-based immigration
  4. once the K1 visa is granted, the girl can enter the USA and stay there for 3 months. By the end of these 3 months you HAVE to GET MARRIED or the girl has to go back home.
  5. if you get married, the girl gets a greencard and can work
  6. after 3 years of marriage, the girl can apply for a US citizenship. That's when they interview you to find out if it's a real marriage. She also has to answer some questions about US history, political system, etc etc.

Here are Derrick's tricks (1-7) that he uses immediately from the start:
  1. GOOGLE or websearch the first part of the scammers first emails and/or 'profile'. SEE HOW MANY OTHER SITES their listed on! RECORD THOSE SITES FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. THAT alone can give you a good idea IF your dealing with a scammer OR not.
  2. GOOGLE or websearch the return email address. See how many 'hits' come from that search and also note all the sites. (many times you'll see the email end up on a 'scammers list') IF YOU FIND THE EMAIL ADDRESS LISTED ON A SCAMMER LIST - don't bother further, your only fooling yourself - no matter what excuse they might give you.
  3. FROM THE START - ASK FOR SPECIFIC INFOMATION! A full name, address, phone number - something. OFFER THE SAME in exchange, except make it a P.O. box and a CELL PHONE rental card that will protect your identity. If you see your requests ignored, which you usually will, don't waste your time further.
  4. ALWAYS ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS that would REQUIRE A SPECIFIC ANSWER outside the use of FORM LETTERS. IF YOU FIND your questions go unaddress in your reply emails from 'them/her' - YOUR DEALING WITH A SCAMMER. Again, don't bother further.
  5. DON'T WAIT 6 MONTHS to offer to talk with the PROSPECT by phone! WHAT A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME! IF THERE IS CHEMISTRY OR APPEARS 'INTEREST' BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU - then sieze the opportunity. ARRANGE A PHONE CALL! International rates to Russia and most places are reasonably cheap. IF YOU GET THE REPLY ' I'M SO POOR I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A PHONE' - drop the whole thing, your only wasting your time and WILL BE SCAMMED at some point in the future.
  6. PHOTO FLOOD! IF IT/SHE/HIM/THEM - LOOK TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE - THEN IT PROBABLY IS! MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE SCAMMES USE PHOTOS OF MODELS IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES TO POSE ON THE NET IN THEIR PROFILE(s)! Consider this - IF THEY LOOK like a MODEL then tell you they're so poor they don't have access to a phone - YOUR BEING SCAMMED!

ASK FOR A SPECIAL PHOTO TO BE TAKEN. IF YOU SENT YOURS, HAVE THEM TAKE A PHOTO SHOWING THEM HOLDING UP YOUR PHOTO IN THE PICTURE! That is a good 'scammer filter' - even the most adept with Photoshop will easily be spoted.

BETTER STILL - ASK THEM TO TAKE A PHOTO THAT SHOWS THEM HOLDING A CURRENT NEWPAPER OF YOUR CHOICE OR THEIR COUNTRY, WITH A RESOLUTION THAT YOU CAN READ THE DATE! NOT some low grade - grainy photo! FEW WILL EVER DO THAT.

AT THE LEAST - ASK THEM FOR A PHOTO of them wearing a specific combination of clothes and/or colors - something different then the usual 'model clothing' - most use to send out. OR AN OBJECT - TOASTER, ELECTRIC CLOCK, BY A COUCH, IN A ROCKING CHAIR something that would be very hard to use PHOTOSHOP to just PUT in another FILE PHOTO.

*** IF this person is real or sincere, they won't mind doing this for you! ALSO - offer to do the same for their comfort also - that is only fair.
  7. IF THINGS GET SERIOUS - then ASK THEM TO DELETE ALL THEIR OTHER WEB PROFILE POSTS! CHECK ON THE ONES YOU NOTED EARLIER! Again, IF THEIR SINCERE - they will - happily as your their DREAM and future!
  8. If she talks about getting a visa or that she needs money to get a travel visa to the USA, she lies. See the proper course of action described at the top.

http://s67.photobuc..ablonacho/ is where I keep binary files
(i.e. non-text files) of photos I have received from so-called Russian single women. I believe every woman there except for Karina is a scammer of some type. I'm not sure about Yulia though, because she never asked me for money. I don't know where I would post the text messages I have received from them. Anna is a scammer, because she plagiarized a song she claimed she wrote for me, and asked me for 4,000 rubles,
so she could visit me on a weekend. I told her it was expensive for her to fly here, and I would rather do it when I have my own place, and for more than 2 days. Just check the
URL to see if any of these women have scammed you. I have created separate file folders for each lady to keep things organized. These are the photos they have used.
I'm not even sure if the women in the photos are innocent victims, whose photos are being used by scammers, or they are the scammers, or they are contributing to the scam, by letting their photos being used to scam people.

Ok so in my above post I had accepted that it was a scam. But the 'girl' continued to email me and I kinda wanted to see what she was gonna ask for so I didn't say anything about this. She told me she was going to book her flight to come here and commented that it was expensive. I replied that I would not send money overseas to someone I hadn't yet met. In her email back to me she told me not to worry, she was able to get the ticket purchased and gave me all the flight info for when she's supposed to come here. I checked out all the flights and they are all what she says they are. So now what? I mean I was 100% sure that this was all bs after what I read here. But she didn't ask me anything and she's supposedly gonna be here in like 2 weeks. Is there something coming now? I mean this girl has NEVER asked me for anything. Not once.

Any clues?

Someone else posted that they had heard from her, so maybe if they have they've seen this maneuver as well.

Let me know please

That picture above is Natali Kassianova or Kasyanova supposedly from St Petersburg Russia according to the ad that I saw. I was referred by 'agency' to her and it took 2 letters before the request for money. She knew all about Western Union and exchange rates, wire transfers. Moreover, everything had to happen very quickly for her or else. I will have to look in old computer for email address and other photos she sent me.

The preceeding two picture are of girl from Spain, calling herself Duane Browngardt (duane_029@yahoo.com). I have not been able to nail her down, but she keeps asking for money. However, she is not a typical scammer because we commincate via IMs, and the telephone. has anybody else out there run into this girl? Your help would be apprecaited

I was told by a Brazilian lady last night (one of the sexiest women I have ever met in my life) that almost all correspondences with Russian women end up as scams, and that Russian women are cold, frigid. Anyone have any experience with this? She said she knows of more than 20 men who have had relationships with Russian women and not one has worked out. She was not referring to just corresponding with Russian women, but to actual relationships and she says that all the men she has known in these Russian relationships have ended up miserable. Any ideas?

Greetings to everything, my name is Andru, I live in the United States of America, New York. I would like will share with you very important events which have occured in my life. During two years, I corresponded with charming girls from Ukraine, two of them live in Donetsk, and one of Lugansk. I have found them through sites of acquaintances in the Internet. First it was simple dialogue, but then one of them to me has very much liked, that that from Lugansk, called it Marina Levokina, and we already talked not only about the general interests, and about wedding and children. I admit to you fairly, I for a long time dream of the child, the girl with blue eyes as it has appeared later and it too. But as you know in Ukraine very hard to live, as she told me, money for work pay a little and superfluous to itself will not allow. I well enough rich person and suffice money to me. Therefore, when it the next time has told, that its mum and the daddy were ill, I have solved though as that to help them. I have insisted on that it has opened the bank account, and have sent her 300 dollars, for me it is the sum small, and for them in Ukraine, very significant. It was to me so is grateful, spoke, that very much loves me and we shall be necessarily happy! You will not believe, but after her words, I as if was born anew, I had a happy kind and I would like to live! To live for the sake of her one! Periodically she asked about my help, I certainly, went to her on a meeting and sent it of money. At last I have taken holiday and have arrived to her to Ukraine, to Lugansk, but there I was waited with the big surprise: nobody has met me, I have remained one in the another's country. But I did not despair and have gone to her address, but there nobody has appeared, and her phone was silent. Me have deceived, all my dreams during one moment have failed, to me I wanted to die … is grateful to the friend for that that it has gained me in this complex situation, before my start to Ukraine he has given me the card of detective agency ' Ukraine Private Detective '. I at once have called by phone which there was, to me have promised to help. We have agreed about a meeting in Lugansk and I at once have left Kiev by train to Lugansk. I at station was met also by the Ukrainian guy’s with who were the translator, have asked on my business. I have told all to them. And they were accepted to business. They render many services and open the truth to many foreigners about their beloveds. And I should learn my truth. I have learned it in 2 days, Marina Levokina did not exist in general. All dialogue with her was ingeniously planned deceit. I have paid absolutely small money for services of detective agency, I am much more than money has sent Marina. Guy’s from detective agency besides rendering to me of services became me simply friends and just owing to them, I have met really love in Lugansk. They showed me city with the sights, night clubs, restaurants. And, present, the fate has smiled to me. Her name is Elena, she is 25 years old, it simply angel. After long dialogue we have decided to create the family and to give birth to the child. At all of us it has turned out, now I am really happy. I advise you on such problems will address in detective agency ' Ukraine Private Detective '
http: // detective.siteburg.com or write on E-mail: detective_ua@yahoo.com, and to check up the beloved people. With the best wishes, Andru.
