Question:

My computer is so slow lately and I found a new process in the task manager - jusched.exe
What is this jusched.exe - is jusched a virus or spyware?

Answer:

Most likely this is an ok background process. Search your hard disk for jusched.exe - it should be located in c:\Program Files\Java\j2re* (see sample below).

If you find it there, then this jusched.exe part of Sun Microsystem's Java2 suite. This background process looks for Java updates and installs them, if available. This program is not a risk for you. You can terminate it temporarily (until next reboot) to free up a few resources, but don't expect too much of an improvement from this.

You can also permanently disable this process following these steps:
go to your control panel
click on the java module
go to the updates tab and uncheck "check for updates automatically"

C:>dir jusched.exe /s
Volume in drive C has no label.
 Volume Serial Number is 6C16-2C2C

A must, this guy should write the manauls for Microsoft.
Thanks, I was wondering why this file kept coming back.
Just one thing: Run the Java update before you turn it off. Well at least you won't be months behind on updates.

Unfortunately my jusched.exe is in win32 folder and it is supposed to be a trojan. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Damn jusched!

JUSCHED.EXE-15E85AD3.pf Located in - C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

The original jusched.exe is itself harmless. If no up to date anti-trojan etc scanning
programs show anything suspicious about that file, then you can just ignore it.

...but if you dont want it to start with windows you can type in Start --> Run : msconfig
and in the top right is tab called 'startup' just find the file(s) jusched and uncheck the box.
You problably need administrative rights to do that.

i hope that this helped someone, even a little ;)

i am also infected by this damn virus and my system became so slow that it almost was deadlocked, coupled with this virus , there is another program named iexplore.exe which is the same of an internet explorer program ,both the two programs can't be killed in the procedue manager. i killed them with a tool software , deadlock unlocked. but i don't know how to remove it for ever , it would restart with the sysytem .unfortunately, no anti-virus software can find it abnormal and everyone on the internet says it is a normal program. who can help me? ylyun@hunnu.edu.cn

Why don't microsoft come up with something, which can be used by all application software for the scheduled update checks. And no im not taking about windows schedular.. something which can be automatically configured by software while installations. so the each applications do not run their own process to check updates.
