Question:

I found 2 suspicious looking processes in my Windows startup sequence named igfxtray.exe and igfxpers.exe. What are these 2 processes good for?

Answer:

These two programs are configuration utilities for your NVidia graphics card. You can remove them from your startup sequence if you don't change your card's configuration frequently. I found that my notebook computer automatically switches its graphic card's resolution when I dock it into a docking station with monitor or connect it to an external monitor. It switches from 1024x768 to 1280x1024. When I remove the external monitor it switches back to 1024x768.
These two processes are responsible for this feature.

I suggest to remove these processes only if you don't need the above described feature.
