What is process SAcc.exe? is SAcc a virus?

Question: My web browser has become very slow lately, I get more popup windows then previously and I looked at the list of running tasks and found a task 'SAcc.exe'. What is that? Is SAcc a virus?
Answer: SAcc means 'Surf Accuracy'. It is an advertising program developed and distributed by a company of the same name - Surf Accuracy. SAcc.exe monitors your browsing habits and reports results back to the company's server. If you visit a certain web page, SAcc.exe may pop up a window with a web site that matches your visited site (only that it usually is a competitor's site - this can be funny for a while but gets old then.) This program is a privacy risk and should be uninstalled immediately.
It is my finding that this process - which you can kill easily in the task manager - significantly slows down your network performance. The files can be found in folder C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy and it even offers an uninstall in the control panel.

ad aware is, in fact, spyware itself, u can look it up, after a while ad-aware will start to generate files that will bog down your computer, my cpu usage was getting up in the 90's constantly and it got to the point where i couldn't open microsoft word i had my brother look at it (computers are his life) and he said that ad-aware was doing the harm.
i uninstalled it and bam up goes my system performance

Ad-aware is not spyware, the free version is not even an active process and only runs when you tell it to. Unless you have it programmed to do automatic scans. Most likely you had it running at the time doing a scan and yes it will slow down your system. The same way anti-virus will slow down your system if you are doing a full system scan.

Go to SurfAccurancy.com and click the 'uninstall' on the top right. That will get rid of it.

After Start commences Press F8 and select Start Windows in 'Safe' mode.
Safe mode just starts the bare minimum to get 'Windows' running so SAcc doesn't get started automatically.
When windows is running in safe mode go into Windows Explorer and delete 'C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy'.
