Question:

How can I disable the autocomplete feature in my site's login form?

Answer:

Both Internet Explorer and Mozilla support a new autocomplete property in the <FORM> tag. By default it is enabled. Turn it off as shown in the sample form below; either turn it off for all fields in a form or only for selected input fields.

Some notes on AutoComplete:
The autocomplete feature for web forms was introduced by Microsoft with version 5 of Internet Explorer. If the user disables it in the menu (Tools - Internet options - Content - AutoComplete), then your site cannot turn it on.

<form method=post action="/login" autocomplete=off>
.. whole form has autocomplete turned off
</form>

<form>
..
.. here one field is turned off only:
<input type=text name=id AUTOCOMPLETE=OFF>
</form>
