Changing an email password in Mozilla Thunderbird

Question: I changed my email password, how do I update my account settings? I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.
Answer: (This applies both to IMAP and POP3:)
For some reason, the password is not configured with the account's server settings (port, server name, user name are all in one place - password is configured elsewhere)
Thunderbird 'caches' your password. What you need to do is tell Thunderbird to 'forget' your (old) password.
- In the menu, select Tools | Options.
- Then click on Advanced
- Move to the Passwords section and click on 'Manage Stored Passwords'
- Select the site/username line where your password needs to be updated and delete it by clicking Remove.
IMPORTANT:
click Close and then restart Thunderbird.
The next time Thunderbird tries to poll email from this server, it will prompt you for the password and offer to save it.

They moved it. I'm using version 1.5.0.7, and I found the password stuff under Edit - Preferences - Privacy - Passwords - View Saved Passwords. Then I selected the 'Remove All' button, closed and restarted Firefox, and it asked for my password (as in the instructions above).

I installed Eudora and it never asked me for my password. Consequently, I can not log in or change my password. Any suggestions?

I've tried to do the above 'steps' and when I opened Thunderbird again, it asked for my password...so far, so good. Then when I went to send a message, it asked again...and kept asking even though I had ticked the 'remember my password' box. So I still cannot send emails in thunderbird. What can I do to fix this?

receiving and sending emails are two different things.
you have to authenticate yourself separately (you will see that there are two passwords stored for every account), most of the time, the password is the same.
apparentely, your settings for sending email are wrong (ssl, port etc.).
